Castling is about all I do remember from playing as a teen. About ten minutes ago, I remembered en passant existed and promptly got annoyed that I'd forgotten it at all... :lol:
I love pulling it out on my friends irl and necessitating a Google session while we confirm that yes, that is a rule.

Take that as a lesson about how doing a castle can backfire terribly if you do it badly
Yeah, you have to make sure you have an escape square ready in cases like that. Or you could have blocked the h7 pawn by moving the g7 - g6. I would have taken the knight with my light bishop but you would have avoided mate.
 
Did Chess 2 ever take off? I thought that midline invasion rule was pretty neat but there seems to be no way to play it without houserulesing it in tabletop sim or something

TBH I don't know, I never played it. Looking it up now and seems pretty cool tho.
