US Joe Biden News Megathread - The Other Biden Derangement Syndrome Thread (with a side order of Fauci Derangement Syndrome)

Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

I don't even know what's going on anymore. CNN is fact checking a Democrat!

Washington(CNN)Former Vice President Joe Biden made false claims in a Sunday speech in which he urged Senate Republicans to let the winner of the presidential election fill the Supreme Court vacancy left by the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on Friday.

We're still poring over the transcript of Biden's address in Philadelphia, but here are two initial fact checks.

The Trump campaign's demand for a list

Biden argued that it would be inappropriate for him to release a list of prospective Supreme Court nominees, as Trump did during the 2016 campaign and did again this month.

Biden also claimed that the Trump campaign had not asked him to release such a list until after Ginsburg died.

"We can't keep rewriting history, scrambling norms, ignoring our cherished system of checks and balances. That includes this whole business of releasing a list of potential nominees that I would put forward. They're now saying, after they -- after Ruth Bader Ginsburg passed away, they said, 'Biden should release his list.' It's no wonder the Trump campaign asked that I release the list only after she passed away. It's a game for them. It's a play to gin up emotions and anger," he said.

Facts First: This is just wrong. The Trump campaign and Trump himself had repeatedly said prior to Ginsburg's death that Biden should release a list of prospective Supreme Court nominees.

When Trump released his latest list on September 9, the Trump campaign's statement said in its title that "Biden must do the same." The campaign repeated the demand for a Biden list in a statement on September 17, the day before Ginsburg died.

Trump had previously issued the same demand himself. In an August 24 speech at the Republican National Convention, Trump said, "I'm demanding, actually, a list: let Biden put up a list of the judges he's going to appoint." And in a June 22 interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network, Trump said, "You ought to ask a guy like a Biden or ask his campaign: give a list of judges, see where they stand on pro-life, see where they stand on it."

Supreme Court dates

To bolster his case that the Senate should wait to confirm the next justice, Biden said: "By the way, there's no court session between now and the end of this election."

Facts First: Biden's claim is simply inaccurate. The court's next session is scheduled to begin on October 5, nearly a month before Election Day on November 3.
What's the angle with this? I feel like we're in bizarro world or there's some agenda here.

They're pretending that they have any credibility left whatsoever.
Rate me :optimistic:, but I've found myself starting to wonder if some of these rats aren't finally starting to smell the wind changing, and are trying to hedge their bets so they don't end up on the chopping block.

Alternative: Biden (or his handlers) pissed off someone high up in CNN and now they'd rather go down in flames with him.

I'm gonna give it until after the election results. We'll know for sure by February next year.

They do it once to Biden, and now Trump can't complain when they spend the 72 hours after the debate fact checking every adjective that comes out of his mouth (and everyone else in his family or campaign), Snopes and Politifact style. "What Trump said was technically correct but we find he said it while also being Republican, so we rate him pants on fire."

This isn't even the first time in the past week or so that CNN has seemingly slapped Biden's team around a little bit. So I'm wondering if maybe they did piss someone off at CNN, or CNN has seen those internal polling numbers.

Joe Told a Lie so big that not even CNN can defend it.

I've noticed that too and agree that either the internal polls they have access to but aren't publishing are looking downright grim and are stepping back a bit from the predicted blast radius, or they're trying to light a fire under him to go out and campaign more because they're out of archived footage of him not flubbing left and right and need "fresh" stuff that mentions all the things that have gone down and made the "healthcare/pandemic" ones look out of date. And they did have to publish one token Biden bash so they could say "we are critical of both sides" .

Joe Biden will get the Herbert West-Reanimator shot in his asscheeks and be "better than ever" for 2 whole hours and every moderator will dogpile on the President. I don't trust these debates at all.
iirc a thousand years ago during W's terms Stuart Gordon was floating the idea of Re-Animator Goes To The White House. Chaney dies, gets Re-Animatored, wacky fun ensues.
But the he scrapped it after Obama got in because, I dunno. Seems like the concept would have worked fine with Obaden, too.

The only thing I trust is that it will be a wonderful shitshow more fucked up than the Dem candidate debates. That is, if they aren't canceled at the very last minute because "Joe's not having a good day" or some other malarkey. Which is what I suspect will happen. There is simply no way Biden is going to make it on stage that long before losing his cool or gaffing off into Cornpop land. Slappy predict...

With all the articles talking about the Left preparing for violence, their wargames where Biden never conceded, etc etc etc.

I think my comment about the Dems trying to set up a Biden/Harris government in exile might be more then just crazy fiction.

I can see them doing it and I can see France or Germany hosting it.

I think it's the polling numbers since shortly after the RNC. They see that too many of their solid base of blacks and such are flipping and want Dems to fight these topics and avoid the riot narrative.

even people who think they are lying for the greater good get upset when they are handed a massive turd to polish. Also, CNN viewers probably do not care about him saying a number wrong, their priorities are crazy. So you have a staff that dislike having to cover for something this dumb combined with the perception that it ultimately doesn't matter and you get editorial pieces that let the CNN staff still feel like they are journalists.
