There wasn't many deaths during the actual riots but the huge crime wave as a result of the riots has yielded a breath taking amount of deaths. Most cities that were trending downwards in gun violence the last decade are hitting Chicago tier numbers now and its likely only going to get worse. The bit of anarchy across the country back in May during the actual Floyd riots broke a mental barrier for a lot of the criminal elements and I don't see much in the way of articles linking the two. There was a bit of a mystique beginning to build in the heads of most people that the country was safe and that the police would, given time nab people for most serious crimes, once the riots happened and people saw the police disappear in most cities for upwards of a week or more; the spell got lifted. I wouldn't say that we fell from Eden because the hood will always be the hood but there has been a drastic uptick in violent crime across the country that nobody can deny, some of which is just nonsensical violence for its own sake.
