Games you gave up on.

Somebody may have already mentioned BotW, but I got a bit past the tutorial region and put it down. I absolutely fucking hated how quickly the weapons degrade and break. Even though the game is absolutely massive, it felt totally empty in the areas I played. Some of the shrine puzzles were fun, but other than those I was at a bit of a loss on what to do (besides the main quest) when I quit. I guess I'm more used to RPGs that have an autistic amount of exclamation marks all over the map and more NPCs. I might pick it up again in the near future and figure out what I missed.

There was this really stupid detective game for the 360, Murdered: Soul Suspect. Plot was, you're a detective who's murdered and your spirit has to solve your own murder. Sounds interesting right? The problems come right out of the gate with some of the most retarded dialogue I've ever heard. "Murdered.......by....my own bullets?? But how?" "The broken window glass..........cut me??". Etc. Puzzles were laughably easy and the main character was the typical grizzled detective with a dead wife. You get ghost powers throughout the game like walking through walls and possession, yada yada. What made me tap out was a church level where you have to sneak around the priest and demon floaty spookies. You had to get files or something, I don't remember exactly. Anyway, how does the game go about having you sneak around as a paranormal vengeance spirit? You have to possess a vacuum and mildly annoy the priests with it. The demons can't sense you in the vacuum. That's it. No cool ghost sneaking or haunting. You possess a god damn hoover to sneak by the forces of satan. Just vacuum down a hallway. I had enough stupidity at that point and just quit.

Anyone ever play Dante's Inferno? That game was pure, hot ass garbage. I finished that while hating every moment of it.

Going to embarrass myself but Wii Fit. I've been wanting to be a yoga fag for a while but every time I try it this gook machine can't seem to handle that I'm bow legged. Also I have size gaijin feet so I can't get comfortable on it.

I really need to find an interactive workout solution but I'm too cheap to invest in a switch and ring fit.

I quit that a few days ago. It shouldn't take me three brand new weapons to get halfway through a boss fight. At least let me buy a weak sword or something.

Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Everyone said to do Van Naboris last but didn't say why. I learned why, and it got so frustrating I just stopped playing. Fucking red-spandex-wearing weebs...

Persona 3, 4, and 5. I just get really bored between times where I can crawl the dungeons to the point I can't finish them.

Kid Icarus Uprising. Not because the game is bad, but because the control scheme kills my hands.
I think there's a way to change the control scheme last time I played it. Highly reccommend you finish it. It's one of the most satisfactory endings I've had in a while

Elite: Dangerous. I had a bunch of fun getting to grips with the basics of the game, but then realised that there really wasn't a lot of substance after that. At least not for me.

Metal Gear Solid V
It felt very repetitive and unrealistic (Especially the wormhole fulton that let's you eliminate enemies and vehicles instantly), and after assaulting what was essentially the same village with a degree of variation for a dozen times, I couldn't finish it. The mother base upgrade gimmick just felt like it existed to pad the game, there wasn't any real feeling that it was your creation.
Ground Zeroes and MGS were great games that I enjoyed very much. A plot existed, but it wasn't overwhelming, and it integrated with gameplay well. I could actually focus on the infiltration, and their unique environments didn't have me bored after a few hours.

Dungeons, granted I did not get far. I really like the Dungeon Keeper games so I jumped on it as soon as I could... only to find out that in order to gain the magical resource I need I have to leave gold and loot and shit around for heroes to pillage my dungeon so they gain fulfillment and only then can I kick their ass. What the fuck. Then I told myself that even though this was touted as a spiritual successor I need to judge it by it's own standards, so I tried again a week later and went though the same cycle.

MGS5 leans heavily on the gameplay side of things. I listened to a long analysis on the environmental and idle chatter storytelling of MGS5 and there's a ton of background lore there and it's implication on the world of MGS as a whole but how you're supposed to get a decent picture of it all in a few casual playthroughs is beyond me. But at least we get 12 "Destroy the enemy armored convoy" missions.

Destiny 2. It was free on PSN and I gave it a try despite absolutely hating the first one. A story quest glitched to be unfinishable in the first day and there was no way I was going to start again

Xcom2. Another PSN freebie. I had enjoyed the prior reboot, this one was barely playable on ps4. So I tried it on pc and made the mistake of getting the expansion for more weapon options. Even if you don't have the expansions enabled, making the mistake of installing them will get you occasionally get assaulted by superbosses who get a reaction to every action every single one of your guys take AND a turn of their own. FUCK THAT

Wasteland 2: I just stopped giving a shit after the part where you have to choose who to help and who gets left to fend for themselves

Grimoire: despite the awful interface and bizarre class change rules, it was scratching my wizardry 6, 7, 8 itch and I think I had nearly completed it. I keep telling myself I'll go back to it, but that's probably not true

There is, and after some experimentation I found something that works like a charm! Thank you!

Space Station 13. I absolutely love SS13 and everything about it, but the astronomically terrible BYOND engine always makes me not want to actually play it.
The final nail in the coffin for me was finding out that Space Station 14 exists, which is just an in-development modernization of Space Station 13 that completely overhauls the game, even with a completely new handmade engine.

When that game finally became playable on PC via emulator, the first thing I did was run to find a mid grade melee weapon - nothing super strong, just a pretty standard sword - plus shield and them to be indestructable. Way more enjoyable now. I kinda liked the freedom, but I can see why a little direction might be better for others.

I gave up on darkest dungeon super late, when I had a great party at max level and equipment and realized there was no way I'd get even half of them through the final levels in the mansion.

Skyward Sword and Galaxy 2. The worst thing is I was almost done completely finishing both games, just needed to do the final boss and final mission.

Breath of the Wild - beautiful garbage. Better on Switch than Wii U, but not by much. About 70% done.
Red Dead 2 - same problem; good looking game, crap story and characters. Piss poor compared to the first game. 90% done.
Any of the newer Assassin's Creed games; they're decent games but they're not really AC games any more. Finished Origins, tried Odyssey against my better judgment, still managed to disappoint; quit about 60% in.
