Alright, I'm coming out of lurking like an autist to drop some hot pregnancy knowledge: As I'm sure most of you have already worked out, the "she's 3 weeks pregnant" thing is most likely bullshit.
For the first 2 weeks of counted pregnancy, you're not actually pregnant.I'm not a medical professional, but from my understanding those weeks are still counted because it's within those two weeks (typically) that the sperm reaches the egg, the egg implants, etc etc and the traditional pregnancy as we know it begins. So a medically defined 3 week pregnancy would, in fact, realistically be more like 1 week. Now, I couldn't find the date when Ralph text Matt Vickers with some apparent certainty that Faith was pregnant, but I believe that was around a week?
Additionally, a pregnancy test would be highly unlikely to pick up a pregnancy at this stage. As mentioned, after the sperm reaches the egg, the egg travels into the womb and implants. Once the egg implants, the chick's body starts to release pregnancy hormones (HCG). This is the hormone that pregnancy tests are detecting. The levels start low, and then multiply daily, so typically a test will pick them up around the 5 week mark (maybe 4). A blood test, I believe, would detect sooner, but you'd have to be going to blood tests every fucking week to get the confirmation.
Transvaginal ultrasounds are used to confirm pregnancy in early stages, however traditional abdominal ones aren't, because between the fat tissue it needs to peer through and the baby at that stage, you wouldn't be able to see shit so I doubt they would both.
This leaves us with a couple of options:
- You can roll up to an ultrasound clinic, say "I think I'm pregnant - jam that wand up my snatch and have a look" - not in the US so perhaps someone can weigh in on whether this is likely
- Faith is not currently pregnant and went for an ultrasound for a check up or unrelated issue (pretty unlikely)
- The pregnancy is (by medical definition) more like 5-7 weeks along (very likely)
- Faith is 3 weeks along, rolled up and told them she was having abdominal pains, bleeding or lied about the date of her last period, and in the course of checking for ectopic pregnancy (where the egg implants in the fallopian tube rather than the womb) they discovered she was pregnant (not impossible).
It's worth noting that chicks do sometimes bleed during the implanting process and that would happen around the 2-3 week mark, I believe, and since both Ralph and Faith wouldn't know that it's possible they took a bunch of Dollar Tree tests until they got a positive, and then showed up for a scan claiming they know she's pregnant but she's bleeding.
So my personal bet is that she's 5-7 weeks, and the kid really was conceived during (or around the time of) the GuntTape filming. Poor fucking kid.
