Kentucky already made no-knock raids illegal in the aftermath of Taylor's killing, which is exactly what they should have done, and activists should be happy about it, but of course they're never happy about anything.

Making no-knocks illegal (and there's also a bill at the federal level) is a much better outcome on a society-wide level than trying (and failing) to prosecute the cops involved.

The main thing they should be angry about is that no-knocks weren't made illegal a long time ago. They were always dangerous to everyone involved, and there have been legit cases of cops busting down the wrong door.

The warrant on Taylor's house wasn't a no-knock. It was a knock then enter, and the police knocked, announced themselves and entered. To be fair, home invaders could shout "police police police!" as they charge into your home, but the dude who started shooting at them was a straight up murder suspect (not related to this search warrant tho,) so fuck giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Not completely innocent for some, there's still enough evidence in a couple of these BLM cause celebre cases of the cops screwing up on some level at some point but imo not in a 'they murdered someone and need to have criminal charges filed against them' level. In Taylor's case you could still ask questions about why no-knock raids need to be done in the first place (something that's already being worked on) and about some of the inconsistencies in the cops' side of the story but unless one of them lied to get the warrant or destroyed evidence I don't really see the need to go beyond firing maybe a couple of them and mandating retraining for the rest.

I don't even know if most people agree that Derek Chauvin was a dick, now that it's come to light that Floyd almost certainly died of a drug overdose which resulted from him swallowing his entire stash in hopes that police wouldn't discover it, a method that sent Floyd to the hospital at least once before for an overdose. There wasn't any damage to his windpipe so I think the general consensus of people who are willing to seek out information is that while what Chauvin did indeed looked bad, in reality, George Floyd unknowingly committed suicide because he decided he'd rather risk death than go back to prison.

And since he didn't inform police that he'd ingested a large quantity of fentanyl, for obvious reasons he didn't want to do so, they were unable to appropriately render aid to him. If he'd said: "Look I just swallowed a big ass baggie of fentanyl" they could have whipped out some Narcan and hauled George off to the ER, he'd probably be alive now and a quarter of Minneapolis wouldn't be fucked, among others. Of course then he would've had to eat some charges and likely do time, which George wasn't too fond of.

No only did Floyd swallow his stash in front of the cops and OD'd. The records are looking that Floyd didn't even die at the scene. Everything start to finish was done by the book. They simply withheld the bodycam footage and spliced a bystanders video together and span it so much Floyds Casket has probably burrowed to the core of the earth.
