I don't understand how these people can enthusiastically burn small businesses, especially those in ghettos that are owned mostly by asian immigrants, while being supported by Amazon/CitiBank/etc., and genuinely believe that they're "fighting the system". Apu the MiniMart manager has nothing to do with systemic racism, more likely than not he fled India to escape from that country's absurdly racist caste system. I could maybe see it, but at the same time most of the successful Democrats rely on the region's high black population with lefty college kids and Northern transplants to bolster it. It's part of why Virginia flipped blue, since the NoVAcrats are neoliberal and left-leaning DC transplants who use the DC suburbs in NoVA (Northern Virginia) combined with the massive black population in the Richmond area to more or less control an otherwise conservative state.

I think it would depend on the state in question. The NoVAcrats have enough college kids and DC suburbanites to go full Dixiecrat but Dems in states like Georgia and Louisiana need the black vote to stay viable

Such polling has been done. Pew did it back in like 2016 and again recently. Not specific to Seattle but the results among blacks was pretty common- they do not trust police. But they want police. In fact, the number of respondents that wanted MORE police outnumbered those that wanted LESS. The most common result was that black neighborhoods want the same or more policing but want better cops. Police are considered a necessary evil.

Which is way too fucking reasonable (and expensive) so instead you have city councils like those in Seattle and Portland made up of white dangerhairs that use black people as an excuse to try and get rid of police completely.

i think we all need to have a healthy distrust of police. we've empowered them over us, so we need to hold them accountable for everything they get wrong, but that doesn't mean we can't praise them for shit they get right too. more funding for police in general would solve a lot of these problems (obviously with the appropriate level of oversight to make sure it's not just paying for raises for the chief and his favorites), since a lot of police forces are stretched pretty thin or have poor training in things like proper deescalation.
