Lawyers don't lie to the court, they tell the truth to the court, and their professional ethics requires this of them. They put together a case which presents true facts to convince a judge or jury that the truth as told to them by their client is the most persuasive case that will win when push comes to shove.

We all know in practice the definition of "not lying to the court" is way more lenient than a more autistic colloquial interpretation (mainly because it involves actually proving "lying to the court"), but I don't think a lawyer worth his salt would ever so much as imply in recorded conversation any soundbite that could be interpreted in any way as him having distorted the truth for a client.

Couching his attack in terms of clients is the worst angle PPP could possibly have used because you'll immediately get an answer the Lawyers Professional Responsibility Board would be proud of.
