why do non americans care? I dont care about other countries elections, I definitely wouldnt stay up late to watch an election for Germany or the UK
because:
1. Trump has made the whole thing very entertaining to watch
2. results of US elections have repercussions in other pats of the world, so the rest of the world is kinda interested in who might the future US prez be (and thus how many middle east countries will get invaded, what will happen to international economic treaties etc)

It's funny I thought growing up, the fear of communists in government and media was just a dumb right wing conspiracy. Now we're living through it.

The Republican party really, really fucked up during the Bush years when millennials were all developing a political identity. The obvious issue is the Iraq war, but culturally, the Republican party did nothing but cater to dinosaurs. They held onto dying causes and really offer nothing to youth. That's another reason why Trump won, he never pretended he gave a shit about gays marrying, marijuana, never made believable overtures to Evangelicals, all of that shit. He wasn't the stuffy conservative the GOP churns out.. The Republican party, at least before Trump, kept reaching out to the religious right and making absolutely zero in-roads to youth. Instead, Republicans complained about demons on Magic: The Gathering and grounded their children for playing Dungeons & Dragons. Liberals were closer to the sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll all the cool kids love. That's why that annoying creepy narcissistic insincere huckster Milo Yiannopolous ever had an audience.

With Trump, we got an actual real human being and not a cardboard cutout of a human being. The left tries to smear him with his boorish sexual boasting, but in the end I feel like it really helped his image. Blue collar "titties 'n beer" types that aren't exactly street punks but also aren't altar boys probably loved being able to vote for an actual MAN. Trump's a bullshitter, but he doesn't hide his core personality, didn't even make an effort to.

Gay marriage was a huge issue that brought a lot of millennial teens into the civil rights LARPing stuff. The laws were pretty stupid and everyone knew it, as secretly did the Republicans. Why do you know the Supreme Court case Roe vs. Wade but not the one that mandated states accept homosexual marriage? Because the Republicans don't contest it because they didn't care either. They legitimately do care about abortion as they believe it is the murder of a human life. The Republicans handed the left the ability to make themselves look like civil rights heroes (cautiously; even Obama was chickenshit and said he didn't believe in gay marriage. Trump beat him to that!) and we've been dealing with that degeneracy ever since.

It was either uncool uptight religious right types or the lamest, most milquetoast, "safe for East Coast Elite consumption" Mitt Romney types. On the Republican side, Mitt Romney's nomination likely got the fire smoldering inside the Republican party that allowed Trump to win, if it wasn't that it was the Ron Paul craze that went on way back. Romney is a moderate religious Christian liberal more than he could honestly be called a republican. I actually would have agreed a lot on Romney socially, except he couldn't even take bold stances on those fronts, and his economic policies I found distasteful.

Of course, Trump also addressed issues nobody was willing to take a stance on. Immigration and trade. That made a lot of conservatives very happy, particularly the law and order crowd and people concerned either with China itself or America's trade deals. Most Republicans do nothing Republican, they do not lower taxes, they do nothing about social security, they have no problem with Chinese influence, they think law and order is harsher sentences for people caught with wacky weed instead of improving policing and crime in high-crime areas.

Even the alt right and WNs consist of huge fucking pot heads (don't fucking deny it guys). The vast, vast majority of millennials, probably most of us here, even at KiwiFarms, have moved to what people say is "socially liberal." Millennial right wing youth have a much greater libertarian leaning.

So, back to the main point: we don't have any real conservatives in media or anywhere to fight back on this because for far too long the Republican party made themselves simply very, very, very uncool. The left, with the media, seized Millennial public opinion. The Republican party needs to rebrand itself and not come off as an angry disapproving nun in a convent. Nobody wants that anymore. You can be "sex drugs and rock'n'roll" without being a complete degenerate. Ian Curtis of Joy Division was a Tory! Roger Daltrey is pro-Brexit and generally pretty moderate! I could go on about more of them and how all the original rock and roll stars even today aren't socialists or even necessarily on the left. Conservatives need more Ted Nugent types. How many rockers/rock 'n roll types were really super far left? Those people weren't hippies. And maybe one day, people predisposed to the left might realize that "sex, drugs, rock 'n roll" doesn't mean doing snorting dried cum and molly off a transpenis in a port-a-potty at an EDM festival. The right wing made themselves absolutely unpalatable to Millennials. The Republican party has been reparing itself slowly from the religious right but not fast enough.

Here's hoping the Democrats are making themselves unpalatable to Gen Z. I'm not optimistic, though culture is increasingly becoming based online and I feel that there's the embers of a new counter-culture starting to glow.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Great speech!

Honestly, I believe we will see a cultural overturn. The left is feeling more and more like the old Bush right everyday, even gaining the support of Bush himself. The Millenials were lead on by the Dems, and it is pretty evident why, and I cannot exactly blame them. The Right lucked out and could not provide for the young outside of select individuals, now they seem to have a weird following. Gen Z was what I believed to be Right, though my idea may be hindered by the Flyod riots taking much of the youth. Looking at the landscape, I believe Gen Z can be split into three camps, and the RNC seems to have a hold on one. The first is 95-00, which are close to Millenial ideology and life style. 01-05 is going to likely be the most Conservative as they had to grow up during the rise of Anita Sarkesian and BLM. They had decent online exposure to know the landscape before Twitter‘s boom and wokens took a hold of everything. The rest of Gen Z is going to be a mystery now due to Floyd and Tik Tok.

The thing about the Left is that they should be able to reach the youth, yet choose not to. They are the most apparently tone-death party currently. They have leaders that appeal to the young such as Sanders, or more liked by this thread, Tulsi and Yang, yet choose to screw them out of any potential win. Now they are left with Biden, who is basically the appeal to the old dinosaurs mentioned above, in a time where the old dinosaurs have a very strong Republican nominee. I feel like the Left is way to cocky in how much they assume people hate Trump, that they honestly believe that they can throw anyone out against him. Their party has no appeal outside of fear mongering about how Gays and women will lose all rights, something that will not happen under Trump, but people are very scared of it thanks to the new justice. At best, abortion is gone for 4 years, and that is assuming Trump has enough of an attention span between fighting libs and China to actually do much of anything. Fear is the only motivator the Dems have now. People are fearful of not having healthcare for pre-existing conditions, minorities losing rights, and at the most extreme, Donald being Hitler 2.0. I am not sure how they can take a win. If they do not, the party is likely to collapse as progressives leave. Multiple members will go into extreme TDS mode and become unreasonable, etc..

I honestly just want to see the next election. Something tells me a Trump win will completely reshape the landscape.

So what you're saying is, we need more shitposters in positions of power to win the culture war? Since I think shitposting is more appealing to zoomers than the stuff you listed, which the Democrats can only do unintentionally (or literally in the case of Nadler earlier today).
We should call it " do the nadler."

Never let him live it down

I think Milo Yiannopolous in some way had the right idea, the problem was he is a narcissistic psycho faggot. But the general idea of how he marketed himself--he really did grasp at something there. He is just definitely the sort of person that should not be filling this role because he's, well, a narcissist, and not a very sincere one at that. When GG came around he rebranded himself, and I think he's a good marketer and he knew what the right wing was missing. Let's ignore everything about him but simply what he did, marketed himself in a way millennials would be appealed by.

Don't take this to be an endorsement of Milo or his views, I'm an atheist and I'm not sure I'd call myself right wing, not now, but I feel far more at home there because I understand the reasoning the founding fathers organized things the way they did, I agree with their ethos, and I just get along better with people leaning on the right, most generally, than people leaning on the left because people on the left are generally trainwrecks and miserable people. I like low taxes (not Kyanka), guns, small government, justice and rule of law WITHOUT being an authoritarian Joe Arpiao type. I shouldn't have to be religious to hold these positions. There's plenty of terrible people on the right, but I find by and large you can actually discuss things with them and disagree with them without them threatening to destroy you. I generally try to avoid politics (though I do care about cultural issues; I live in a nation that is divorcing from me culturally, how can I not?) but if the Republicans rebranded themselves maybe I could provide more vocal and enthusiastic support.

I'm not going to support the libertarian party. They've always been clownish, but now they even support antifa sometimes. Not interested.

Communists, self-identified communists, and Antifa, are not human and have the same level of personhood as a rogue gut bacteria. I guess that's not really relevant to the discussion but I just really hate communists and just wanted another opportunity to tell people that.

Looks like a bunch of Marxists who want to make Capitalist Leningrad more like actual Leningrad.

Or it could be crazy ass Scientologists from Clearwater, either one.

These Marxist idiots fail to see how bad these optics are.

In the days of Coronavirus, getting to go out to a restaurant is something that can't be enjoyed as often, so doing it is a welcomed change of pace in all this shittiness...and they are going out and ruining those people's night.

And they think racism is the only reason they get told to fuck off.

But yes, the Republicans did a HORRIBLE job of winning over the youth. They offered virtually nothing for years, and it allowed this version of the Left to grow and fester in millennials and erode the right into an archaic mess of a party.

Now I see today's left and they have become so awful, more and more people are either leaving or observing and going "Fuck I don't want any of that". I also think it helps that the internet has grown to a point where the bullshit being pushed by the media is so easily debunked to where basically every word out of CNN and MSNBC is exposed as pure bullshit online almost immediately.

Looking at the current situation, Trump was probably the most necessary politician in modern times to bring the Republicans to the 21st century and also expose the Left as hatemongers, which will hopefully lead to that party making major changes in the future. Maybe I'm just being :optimistic: though.

The American right wing is a smorgasbord of a wide variety of ideas. From ancaps to facists, old fashioned religious constitutionalists, monarchists, luddites, survialists and libertarian minarchists.

I hope over time these ideas merge together and form something unique and new. It would be something to watch.

I know. I was there. You're absolutely correct. I had this very shit in mind.

One of my very good friends I talk music and stuff with leans more to the left, but they're tired as shit of the communism and tranny shit too. They also hate politics, but they have their leanings (of course), but it's important to notice that there are people on the left that are sick of this shit. There just aren't all that many of them. Some people have a different idea of government, and that's okay, but the left has really fallen into a psycho hysteria. No nuance. Take the border issue, you have large groups of people trying to illegally enter the country; why on Earth are we not supposed to enforce border laws? What are they supposed to do when people try to come over and overwhelm immigration control? Maybe the situation sucks, but let's talk about why guys, and let's not frame everything in terms of some dumb oppression narrative so you can roleplay a freedom fighting revolutionary. They're narcissists.

If he has some form of confirmed connection between the various Marxist Insurrectionists and the Biden Campaign.... well, Fox News will ignore it because Trump doesn't want a Foreverwar and Fox News's masters do.
Only Tucker will cover it as he is the only anti-forever war pundit there left. And he is the only pundit there that somewhat appeals to the youth compared to the other pundits there.

More from The Atlantic on Drumpfler's mad ambition to install himself as Supreme Chancellor, regardless of the election outcome... it's a really fun read, lots of entertaining bits:

This is speculation, of course. But none of these scenarios is far removed from things the president has already done or threatened to do. Trump dispatched the National Guard to Washington, D.C., and sent Department of Homeland Security forces to Portland, Oregon, and Seattle during summertime protests for racial justice, on the slender pretext of protecting federal buildings.

Atlantic has a fanfiction section? good to know
Admittedly it would be fiction if not for The Atlantic's 100% accurate ability to predict what Orange Man will do, and their tireless dedication to the truth.

Maybe you hesitate. Is it a fact that if Trump loses, he will reject defeat, come what may? Do we know that? Technically, you feel obliged to point out, the proposition is framed in the future conditional, and prophecy is no man’s gift, and so forth. With all due respect, that is pettifoggery. We know this man. We cannot afford to pretend.

Does anybody actually read this shit and take it seriously? Oof.

sent Department of Homeland Security forces to Portland, Oregon, and Seattle during summertime protests for racial justice, on the slender pretext of protecting federal buildings.

"slender pretext"? The Portland courthouse was under siege for 95 days straight. 6 blocks of Seattle literally seceded from the country for a few weeks of Marxism and murder. We have 5200+ pages documenting street violence, and still growing.

Do they really think all that polling showing people worried about riots came out of nowhere? You know, the polls that got Biden/Harris to stop cheering on civil unrest and finally issue a tame "hey guys maybe stop burning down the country for a few weeks".

Who do these idiots think they're fooling?

I actually know a guy who works cybersecurity for a major defense contractor, and thought Daily Show w/Jon Stewart was news.

It's not just the kids.
