I'm starting to see why TERFs and Paradox Plaza addicts casually refer to trans people as 'janissaries'.
Whether they want to or not, they've no choice but to support progressive causes and lobby on behalf of the Democratic party. They've been fed this idea that their very survival is at stake if Trump wins. This isn't unreasonable if you think like a generic progressive voter. Conditions in the 3rd Reich weren't amenable to trans-anything... but by pursuing a path in life that means your chances of passing are completely down to genetic luck (no matter how many surgeries, a lot are hopeless) your only protection from ridicule and ostracising is through legal threats. Without those systems, you may find your life unlivable, which is exactly why they work so hard to maintain the established order. Current Year irreversably altered Jazz, so now Jazz is wedded to Current Year politics. The only alternative is college communism, which on the trans front is just a roided up version of what we've already got through hate crimes and HR departments.
It's really tragic and fucked up that this is the situation so many find themselves. Even absent the coddling mother and signalling siblings, Jazz is denied the right to be apolitical through mere existence. This is something women and even 2020 gays don't have to consider. I'm not even talking about assorted trans social or legal issues here. Jazz doesn't look like a conventional 20 year old woman. Merely by being in a public location, how any friend, colleague or stranger responds to Jazz at any moment can be a politicising incident. That's got to be an emotional drain no matter who you are.
