speaking of Paige she posted this the other day, which I found really amusing, incase anyone was wondering how many times she’s had sepsis. Etc.
Sorry for off topic, back to kelly now.
YES SHES BACK
im sorry.
I think they're talking about the muscles down in the ankle having it. I misread it as affecting the bone at first but it sounds like he means the ankle musculature.
can someone explain me in cavemen speak what compartement syndrome is?
im not the best in medical things

Per Google:

A painful and dangerous condition caused by pressure buildup from internal bleeding or swelling of tissues.
The pressure decreases blood flow, depriving muscles and nerves of needed nourishment.

There's a layer of connective tissue that surrounds the muscles and nerves in your body called fascia. If you've ever peeled the silverskin off a piece of meat, that's the fascia. It binds the muscles into groups, or compartments, based on their function. The fascia is strong and flexible to maintain the tension needed to hold the body together. Unfortunately, the fascia can only stretch so much. When the tissues inside the compartment swell, they squish up against the fascia sleeve. This restricts blood flow in and out of the compartment. Severe cases can cause tissue death, leading to more swelling, leading to more compartment syndrome, etc. This can happen in things like accidents where crush injuries cause soft tissue to swell up.

The treatment for acute compartment syndrome is a gruesome looking procedure called a fasciotomy. Surgeons have to go in and basically lance the fascia to let the tissue under it expand and re-oxygenate. The wound is sometimes left open until the swelling goes down. It looks a lot worse than it is, and it's usually an emergency surgery done to save a limb. For Kelly, I don't really know if a surgery like this would even be possible with all of her other complications and destructive behaviors. She wouldn't be able to keep her hands out of an open fasciotomy wound. It's a mystery if she's actually aware of how much danger she's put herself in or if she knows and doesn't care.

i think she does know, her bone is outside.
she just doesnt care enough to stop bothering her legs.

remind thee, this is the same lady who put razors in her vagina, who snapped a tendon or whatever scary thing in her leg.

she is perfectly happy with her holey wobbly legs

its ok, she wasnt any good at it.
Most people aren't very good at the things they enjoy doing. Most are average at best. That's why we praise and idolize actors, artists, authors, musicians, dancers, and other athletes. We love to think of everyone as special and unique, but the cold hard truth is that very few people are capable of doing extraordinary things.
Even if you're nothing special, hobbies are still fucking important. Especially for the mentally ill; they go through a lot of shit and could really use an outlet for all their negative emotions. Our brains reward us with endorphins when we exercise, and these are always nice to have when your life is going to shit.

The point still stands, it's extra fucked up for a person interested in dance to rip out their own legs. Sometimes I wonder if she self-sabotaged because her lack of progress frustrated her, or because being a self-proclaimed dancer didn't net her enough attention. Fellow munchie Dr. Anna Johnson never shuts up about ice skating, but according to some Kiwis who know more about this shit than I do, she was nowhere near good enough to become a professional. So she conveniently invented a bunch of disorders and suddenly had the perfect excuse for not making it to the olympics.

That’s not really the point though. What about driving? Walking? Anything that involves the use of legs. I know that there are accommodations for disabled people, but come on. There are BETTER ways to feel special. If only the narcissistic realized that, but they wouldn’t be narcissists if they did.

In her case, I guess it’s better that she ruins herself and gets all the attention than sabotage someone else who WAS capable of doing “extraordinary things“ to feel better/important/validated/powerful, something I’ve heard of way too often.

A friend of mine's son developed compartment syndrome after being hit by a motorcycle. He had 23 debridement surgeries, was in hospital for 4 months, and still nearly lost his leg. After discharge, it took a year before he could get around without a wheelchair or crutches.

I wonder if Kelly is addicted to the idea of heroic medicine and falsely believes that doctors will always be able to save her.

I think there's at least 2 other munchies that used to be "dancers" as well, so I believe this thing about being frustrated with no progress or not being special enough to get that extra attention from dancing being some kind of trigger. Anorexia is also very common among both dancers and munchies, so it doesn't feel very far fetched with some kind of connection.

Ehhh...anorexia in dancers is usually the result of pressures to look a certain way or to control something when you feel like you have no control, the later being true of most anorexics. Kelly only did it as a hobby, she was never a professional, where looks and ratios are really important...you have to be a certain height, a certain amount of body fat, legs to torso has to be a certain ratio, you have to have 'the look'.

I think she's in the state she's in moreso because of her desire for attention and to be 'special' (the first female non Asian Becht's patient) than any failed dreams. Even in the professional dance world, modern ballerinas aren't exactly household names unless you're into dance already. She's just a crazy girl who wants attention, any sort of of attention. She put glass in her vagina and said someone forced her to fuck a dog, for God's sake.

It's actually not just about looking more elegant. Pretty much all professional (figure) skaters or ballet dancers are not just "skinny", they all have the same body type, and for a very good reason. I don't really know jack shit about skating, but I remember some people in the FVG thread having talked about how certain jumps that are standard for male skaters being nearly impossible for women to pull off, because we just so happen to have tits and asses, and those make you less aerodynamic. You need to be able to spin insanely fast in order to pull off certain jumps, like maybe rotate around your own axis three times in less than a second before you hit the ground again. That's insanely hard when you're petite, but literally impossible when you have a massive rack. Same goes for ballerinas. Ever seen them en pointe? They have to put their entire body weight onto a part of their body that was never designed to withstand it. Then twirl around and jump and land in the same unnatural position. If you're 90 lbs, you'll be in agony, your feet will be covered in bruises and calluses and you will damage your body in the long run, but if you're 150 lbs you're likely going to grind your toes to dust the very first time you attempt it. It's not a matter of body shaming, some people may be capable to do well in a certain sport even if they're a little chunky, but definitely not ballet and skating.

In a way it must be horrifying if you're really into ballet, working hard every day to improve, dreaming of becoming a professional, and then puberty slaps some massive boobs on you and you're suddenly stuck in a body that simply cannot perform the way you want it to anymore.

My understanding is that this is why most modern gymnasts all look 11. Puberty changes the center of gravity, so you spend, say, 6 years of your childhood getting to the elite and then all of a sudden you come crashing down. Or you can, you know, develop anorexia so you never have to go through puberty and thereby extend your career a few years.

Would a double amputee get a full-time carer? Especially someone as otherwise physically fit as Kelly still seems to be?
