reddit General

The moderators of r/nyc have decided that "homeless" is a slur as bad as nigger, and are now banning the usage of the word. Instead, the subreddit shall use more appropiate words like "housing-handicapped", "indigenous" or "forsaken". Get ready for some high quality autism:

There's already some blowback, I guess a bunch of sane people need to be banned to coddle the lunatics.

NYC is so fucking full of homeless people though, how ridiculous they want people to use lie-words that make them, the mods personally, feel better. Do these mods even live in NYC or what? Have they ever even visited a city? Homeless people are homeless, sorry, changing the word won't make them not "housing-challenged."

This story doesn't even make sense. How are you homeless, handicapped, and finding the time to be a literal reddit mod all day? Where do you get WiFi all month nigga? :story:

You got a point. A huge difference with the left of today and the past is today's left is leftists today are too sensitive that all you have to look at the Social Justice Warrior thread here to see that. Another I always found most leftists were privileged whites who see themselves as morally superior to conservatives and religious whites who they cry that are the true privileged white people that don't care about anything from themselves to the planet, yet somehow a white leftists who grew up sheltered in a gated community somehow knows more than anyone when it comes to poor people or workers struggling to make a living for their family and a roof over their head.

Changing the word will just turn the new word into an insult. See: wordfilters.

The vast majority of these leftist "activists" are overly privileged, well-off, often white, useless-college-degree cry babies who get off on shaming or bullying lower classes about how they are somehow the true privileged assholes. Particularly online, since they can somehow afford to fuck around all day whining on Twitter or Reddit.

They love doing things like policing the language of others in their circle because it's way easier (read: does nothing) compared to actual activism, such as volunteering or donating to a local shelter. After all, activism and donating is something "others" need to do.

So, in other words, it’s now moderator-sanctioned to rant about indigenous people on the NYC subreddit? That’ll probably lead to some fun posts.

All this reminds me of is that George Carlin's routine where he describes the devolution of the term "shellshock" to "post traumatic stress disorder".

Why is Karen banned on a leftist sub as slur? It's been my experience that it's mostly sjws who use Karen as an insult towards women who expect nogs and rapey hipsters to act like civilized human beings in public.

A few months ago, Julie Bindel, a prominent British radical feminist, queried Twitter whether or not “karen” is a racialized, elitist slur against working- or middle-class white women. Radical feminists prioritize female solidarity above all else, but it’s undermined by the intersectional “matrix of oppression” at the heart of SJW ideology. My guess is that the banning mod is one of the few “radfems” who stuck around after all the gender critical subreddits were purged.

(The only reason I know any of this is because I’ve been following the TERF wars and Julie Bindel is number 2 on the TRA hit list.)

They probably operate on the mindset that if it's not acknowledged, it's not a problem. Get rid of talk about the problem or make it harder to talk about directly and it "goes away" in their eyes.
In reality, it's pretty stupid since New Yorker's across the state know that NYC is a homeless magnet, which is partly welcome because it means less homeless upstate. The problem though, is that the city's government way of tackling homeless is pathetic as in, exactly like how the mods are doing it. They refuse to acknowledge the problem, hide it from the public whenever they can, and even tried to ship the homeless one-way across the country, wherever they wanted to go.
Hell, I recall seeing news segments where people called de Blasio out for kicking homeless out of a park to make a speech. Goes to show that people with power don't care about the homeless, online or in government.
