so does every teenager on twitter think your employers deducting 6% off of your paycheck the same as paying taxes or something?

You also get all of your money back in the form of a tax return.

Y'know they're always whining about Republican voters voting against their own self-interest, and yet consistently you have people like this that hear that rich people can afford to hire attorneys and accountants to pay less taxes than are taken out of their own paychecks, and instead of thinking "Maybe the government should take less of my paycheck" their instant, consistent, and unwavering thought is "The government needs to punish those rich people more". They're literally so vindictive and jealous over this shit that it overrides their usual selfishness to give them zero self interest.

Y'know they're always whining about Republican voters voting against their own self-interest
And yet, they want the Electoral College and 2 Senators per state abolished, because urban machine politics know best.
First one's tomorrow it's the main reason why this tax bullshit is getting pushed
Taxation is theft in a perfect (that is, AnCap) world, so I don't blame people for wanting to minimize the amount they have to pay. Demanding that other people pay more because they make more has always struck me as wanting to cut other people down out of envy.

Not that I have any love for the rich, mind you. I can't stand Jeff Bezos or Bill Gates. It's just that the Woke Rich get a free pass from the "gibs moar muh fair share" calls, and the tax hikes ultimately fall on Joe and Jane Sixpack.

The most amazing thing about that Bloomberg article is I doubt it shows what Trump did in 2016-2020 that supports their assertion.

Half the time the MSM pretends 2016-2020 did not happen the other half of the time they use their version of the last four years to push narrative.

Bloomberg article here and archive here, since I forgot to link it. You're right, it doesn't have any concrete information, just innuendo about foreign income, and claims that his "level of indebtedness" could lead to someone buying him off.

However, the author was chasing Trump long before he was running for President, and offers this:

I have some history with Trump and his taxes. Trump sued me for libel in 2006 for a biography I wrote, “TrumpNation,” claiming the book misrepresented his track record as a businessman and lowballed the size of his fortune. He lost the suit in 2011.

During the litigation, Trump resisted releasing his tax returns and other financial records. My lawyers got the returns, and while I can’t disclose specifics of what I saw, I imagine that Trump has always refused to release them because they would reveal how robust his businesses and finances actually are and shine a light on some of his foreign sources of income. The Times has now solved that problem for us.

So Trump is a broke failure, but also his businesses and finances are actually "robust".

I suspect the person who leaked to the NYT didn't have access to the most recent tax information. They say:

The New York Times has obtained tax-return data extending over more than two decades for Mr. Trump and the hundreds of companies that make up his business organization, including detailed information from his first two years in office. It does not include his personal returns for 2018 or 2019.

So even if they had some particular policy of his that looks like a National Security risk, it's hard to link it to his finances when they don't actually have the documents from half of that time frame.

Edit: there's a long Twitter thread doing a breakdown of his financial positions, with the conclusion that Trump is $1.1 billion in debt. I don't have time to dig through it right now, if any finance-minded Kiwis want to get a start on it.

"Trump says he's entitled to a third term." Uhm, no. He said "Say 12 more years, that will really fire 'em up." He flat out said he's trolling. Am I missing something?
Honestly I think it’s a game to him at this point. Think about it like this: if you could say one thing and have it make your enemies go into a tard rage for the next 24 hours while ignoring everything else you’re doing And making them look unhinged at the same time, wouldn’t you? This isn’t even 5D outer space candy land stuff, it’s a simple bait and switch and that’s all. Funny part is that the MSM has no choice, they have to run with it. If they don’t they will be eaten alive by the psycho portion of their base that genuinely believes Trump is Hitlersatan.

Demanding that other people pay more because they make more has always struck me as wanting to cut other people down out of envy.

It is far worse than envy. Over the last few decades more and more of the country has been raised believing that the wealth and labor of others is theirs by right.

It is not Bill's fortune it is OUR fortune and he should be grateful we do not take more to fund our insane plans!

How dare people be allowed to pass the fruit of their effort on to their children or a person of their choice? That should be reabsorbed by the country! What kind of greedy person wants to ensure the people they care about are taken care of once they are gone?

No one needs a billion dollars!

You will never be one of them so why should you care?

Even before I was doing well financially this thinking bothered me. It shows an incredible lack of foresight and critical thinking. Also of ambition.

You do know that abolishing all inheritance is exactly what happened in Chavez's Venezuela, right? So you're more right than you think.

Jesus, they're so pathetic they're re-doing the tax thing all over again. Yeah, they're fucking desperate and have nothing new.
The tactic they've been using for the last month is to "rehash talking points from 2016 and hope something sticks". The thing that makes this taxes shit even sadder is Trump even admitted to not paying his taxes in some of his 2016 speeches and nobody gave a fuck then so why would they now.

Answered earlier in thread but I’ll field these too

Part time minimum wage who pays more than 750 dollars in tax. Sorry I don’t fucking buy it.
I bet you make more than a dollar per year. That plus about 7500 in royalties would give us Trump’s taxes.

HAVING money isn’t taxable, unless you impose a wealth tax. You can have trillions in gold or under your mattress and those dollars not only aren’t taxable, they don’t contribute to the economy or cause inflation.
Is the issue that Trump doesn't pay the expected amount of taxes with his businesses? Or that he knows shortcuts to AVOID paying taxes?

It doesn't surprise me that Trump has a know-around with tax evasion. Many rich people go through loopholes during tax season.
The loophole is “don’t make income”, and if you do make income, try to defer it or make it from non-taxable sources. If you have a million dollars, and invest that all in Vanguard’s California municipal mutual bond funds, you will earn about $15/month, but you pay zero tax to anyone. Outside of California, you could have made 2%/year on the same investment, about 5k.

Other rich people do this, correct?
Indubitably

John Oliver just dropped a video on the Supreme Court care for anyone to debunk it?
I skipped to a random place in the video and he's complaining that kids in an add for Trump merch don't look enthusiastic and that they're reading a coloring book rather than coloring it in. Which honestly makes me wonder if he doesn't realize the images for graphic t shirts or these kinds of books are often just photoshopped on for the ads.

he talked about negotiating a 3rd term at one his rallies in the past month. But that was Trump working the audience. He could do it if he had the backing of 2/3 of the states.
