If Boogie actually lives in Arkansas it has "Castle Doctrine" Laws. Meaning you can defend your home or property. However “a person is justified in using deadly force upon another person if they reasonably believe that the person is about to commit a felony involving force.” So unless this Frank guy is waving a gun around or threatening him with Felony Violence then there might be an issue.. "Warning Shots" to my knowledge isn't allowed in ANY state as well.
