Even if he does get government assistance, I don't think he realises the cost of a child. In the first year it takes 3 months to grow out of clothes. Then 6 months afterwards. A crib will set you back a grand and the swaddles are like $40 a pop. Yes formula, wipes and nappies are cheap but the sheer amount of stuff you need for a first time child will hurt your wallet.
