Details: The debate will be 90 minutes long and have no commercial breaks. There will be no opening statements, and instead Wallace will dive right in with the first question to Trump. It will be divided into six 15-minute segments that Wallace has chosen. They are:
1) The Trump and Biden records;
2) The Supreme Court;
3) Covid-19;
4) the economy;
5) race and violence in cities;
6) the integrity of the election.

After the debates a poll will be posted on who you think won this first debate. Have lots of fun, keep the commentary fresh as I'm sure we've all heard many of the same lines for months and enjoy the beginning of the end of this presidential election cycle. Just as a reminder, on October 7th there will be a Vice Presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Mike Pence at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah.
You can view Joe Biden's megathread here, and Donald Trump's megathread here

Fuck trying to rate or objectively discern this thing. It was a shitshow, start to finish, albeit very entertaining. In combat sports, even if you’re unable to KO your opponent, the judges will give points for volume. Trump delivered an absolute fuckton of volume (yes, both words and tone), and left Biden wobbled for a good majority of the debate. Doesn’t matter if Joe had a few good jabs here and there, the audience and judges are going to score the fight based upon activity. Were it not for the referee, Wallace, Biden would have been downed multiple times.

This is candidate for one of the most asinine things I’ve ever watched, but I lapped it up. Despite being a Trump supporter, I’ll never goad or belittle someone for a differing opinion. If you were moved by this debate in either way, don’t shitpost on a forum, go out and fucking vote.

Did we watch the same debate? Trump came off as a manchild who couldn't defend any of his lies.

I'll go ahead and repeat a point since your team has more fun that way.

Why should anyone die on the hill for war criminals? Antifa and their associates violated the Geneva Convention and Biden was complicit.

Nobody actually answered the K vs V shaped recovery thing lol

Okay, here's what a "K" economy technically is. After an artificial (none economicly driven) downturn, such as caused by Pandemic, Natural Disaster Act of War or Terrorism etc, As the economy recovers, some sectors will still drop. Because the nature of the event will have a disparate impact on that industry. For example a few months after 911 the economy came roaring back, except for the airlines and travel, which fell deeper. For obvious and understandable reasons. In the case of COVID there will be a longer lasting disparate impact on certain industries due to a change in consumer behavior. For example Movie Cinema's.

A K economy is a thing. But it is a Bullshit thing to argue about on a debate stage. There's nothing anyone can do about it. President or no.

Trump fought, and fought hard, against Biden and that little bitch boy Wallace and he came out ahead slightly. Not the knock-out blow I was hoping for, but Trump did well. Biden didn't have the dementia-addled breakdown or stroke I was hoping for, but he didn't do nearly as well as he needed to against Trump.
Trump showed he can defend himself against a den of wolves. Biden showed that he backslides when push comes to shove.

I am biased towards Trump, but I do think the impact of the debate will affect him better than Biden. Biden did manage to seem coherent and not fudge it up too badly, he was losing it a bit towards the end there, maybe the cocktail was running out.

Realistically, this will only entrench viewpoints, no one will watch this and go "wow, I was going to vote for Trump/Biden but now I'm going to vote for the opposite". They will pick their spots and declare their side the winner.

Trump I think will see better effect because he said a lot of shit that everyone wants to say, but doesn't. Brought up riots, brought up how things are bad in Democrat run areas and so on. I think in the wake of these riots, and law and order being the top priority amongst voters, he's saying what people want to hear, and that will tip it in his favour. Media will cycle the white supremacy thing around, doubt it will honestly do much. Was better prepared on climate change and taxes than I expected, and was also restrained it seemed compared to Hillary (though that could be me misremembering it).

Biden I can't really say much, he didn't shit the bed, didn't have a senior moment, said the lines he needed to that appeal to the right people, but always seemed to rely on Chris to bail him out as time went on. Only time I ever really saw a rise out of him was when he talked about his son Beau, otherwise he started off ok, and seemed to get sleepier and lower energy as time went on. Don't think him renouncing the GND will honestly do much to his far left crowd, they are in the "vote blue no matter who" side anyways.

The moderator is a fag with his loaded questions, probably talked more than Biden did at some points and smugly chuckling at points. Always seemed to time his interjections to when things started getting fun/hot. He should hang himself.

That's sort of the interesting part, is that even though this debate got so messy, they didn't get Trump to budge away from his positions, but they basically forced Biden to denounce several things that are integral to Far-Left voters. He had to crap on Antifa, had to (dog-faced) pony up to to the police, had to confusingly shit on and support the Green New Deal, and he made it abundantly clear that Hunter Biden is an incredibly hot-button issue for him.
For what it’s worth, my more left leaning friends are posting about it being a fight between to idiot white men. There’s almost no love for Biden, if people are opining at all they’re just talking about it being a pissing contest between two old people.

I think Biden won by not fucking up harder than he did. Yes, it went poorly for him. But I don't think it went 6-points-nationally bad for him, he didn't faint, he didn't pop a blood vessel in his eye, and he was at least somewhat coherent. Chris Wallace had to baby him through it, but every other moderator will go even softer on Joe and harder on Trump now. Trump tactical victory, Biden campaign survives mostly intact.
