Details: The debate will be 90 minutes long and have no commercial breaks. There will be no opening statements, and instead Wallace will dive right in with the first question to Trump. It will be divided into six 15-minute segments that Wallace has chosen. They are:
1) The Trump and Biden records;
2) The Supreme Court;
3) Covid-19;
4) the economy;
5) race and violence in cities;
6) the integrity of the election.

After the debates a poll will be posted on who you think won this first debate. Have lots of fun, keep the commentary fresh as I'm sure we've all heard many of the same lines for months and enjoy the beginning of the end of this presidential election cycle. Just as a reminder, on October 7th there will be a Vice Presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Mike Pence at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah.
You can view Joe Biden's megathread here, and Donald Trump's megathread here

Also, why is everyone crying that this is the lowest point of American politics ever? Did everyone suddenly forget we had a fucking civil war 200 years ago? I'm pretty sure a country embroiled by civil war sets the bar as the lowest point of politics in said country by miles.
And on that point, can anyone say that they would do a better job in the shitshow that is politics?

Biden receded from that situation in such a remarkable way. He tried to stay on the horse and get angrier at Trump but turned into a stuttering mess, and also denied but then confirmed Hunter’s coke problem.

It was supposed to be his moment, and he blew it so hard.
It was like this generation's Nixon/Kennedy debate where Nixon looked tired, sickly, and sweaty while Kennedy was well-rested and had a pound of make-up on.

The only difference is Nixon was better at the debating portion than Biden was here. Biden's low energy and incoherence were in full display the whole debate. It's hard to seriously say he did good in any part of the debate without Wallace butting in to rescue him.

Parental figure feels Biden won despite supporting Trump, but the reason they think that is because Trump was so aggro that he came off as defensive and rude while Biden came off as more congenial. However, I'd argue that's also how Trump came off in the 2016 debates, so I don't think this has broken from form. Once again, Trump ends up debating the moderator more than the opponent, as he gets the hard, leading questions and Biden gets the easy stuff.

Remind them we are not electing someone to be a nice guy. We are electing a leader. Point out to them what a shit show cities such as Portland and Minneapolis are because they elected nice guys. Weak men create hard times.

My point earlier about Trump shooting himself in the head was in reference to him not explicitly disavowing nazis or whatever. My point is, that's all the news media will talk about until the election, shitty hill to die on imo. And white nationalists hate Trump anyway for being Israels bitch, there is literally no downside to disavowing.

They've been banging that drum for the past 3 years. Trump is not an unknown. It's not going to sway anyone at this point.

I can't believe I'm saying this but Mike Wallace was in the tank for Trump tonight. He asked Biden the power word questions and let Orange Man run all over him.
He also kept interrupting Orange Man whenever it looked like he was about to get a lead on "Sleepy" Joe Biden.

Chris Wallace was a shitty moderator all-around, honestly.

Balled fist? When? Also what responses were answers to future questions? I believe it but I had to clean up after my cat when he threw up on the rug (looking at Biden disgusted him that much) so I missed a few minutes of the debate.

Early on Biden was asked a question and started answering a completely different question(economic which was next).

The balled fist was toward the end and could have just been the angle.

I did forget my favorite part of the debate:

Biden talks about how great The Biden Plan(Green New Deal V2) and starts laying out all these things he is going to implement that California has implemented and is now on fire and has no power.

He was, but his interruptions meant shit. Trump just talked over him and Wallace didn't do shit.
It did make the "debate" hard to listen to at times. At various points I couldn't understand what anyone was saying over the loud jumble of clashing mouth noises.

Damn. Poor google interns aren't going to sleep tonight.
Someone's gotta fix things so the search engine doesn't show anything about Hunter except pictures of him with puppies and as a child.

To think Joe looked at the camera dead on and told the world his son was indeed a crackhead. :story: :story: :story:
Guaranteed that sent many to look Hunter up.
How's your dad going to say you've got drug problems on national TV and streams worldwide, and how's a politician going to tell America "he's just like you; a silver-spooned drug addled mess"? :stress:
I need to see the clip.

Was this when he said "I'm not gonna do anything about it!... Here's $20 million stop cutting down trees"

By this point you either hate Trump so much, you think he’s a white supremacist or you realize he’s not (and either like him or dislike him). The media uses this line of attack so often it’s meaningless at this point. What white supremacist would talk about blacks being employed at higher numbers being a good thing?

Biden talks about how great The Biden Plan(Green New Deal V2) and starts laying out all these things he is going to implement that California has implemented and is now on fire and has no power.
And it was Wallace who kindly reminded him of all the cool stuff in the Biden plan, just in case he forgot. With a limp "how you pay for all this goodness?" to justify it.
