They can presumably arrest on federal charges.

Unless I'm mistaken, it means that those arrested for rioting, unlawful assembly, arson, and other crimes will face federal charges. Which means that Portland's ANTIFA-simping DA can't let them back out on the street without charges.

Just because a federal agent is in the presence of a state crime doesn't make it a federal offense. But if they get artistic with charging they can probably find a federal crime pretty easily in a riot.

The irony of this is, he's got his mouth around a reason why fascists tend to do well when the hard left are pushing like this, but he can't help but reframe it in terms of sexual deviancy.

The left has a habit of ignoring, or actively denigrating, the poor and working class. The lumpenproles. The uneducated, blue-collar workers who should obviously side with the revolution, but don't. They get cast aside, mistreated, berated, and called the enemy, and the fascists (which is anyone the left disagrees with) step in and say "I understand you".

Essentially, the hard left create their own enemies. They create the circumstances for a rise in actual fascism, by pushing away and abusing anyone who doesn't cleave utterly to their worldview, or anyone who questions even the slightest iota of it.
