I wonder how far I'll get into Blacktober before I'll actually start seeing art of characters that were always black. Unless the whole purpose of the month is to just black-ify existing non-black characters. Because if that's the case, then damn, what a wasted potential of an event.
We're talking about Twitter. They don't care about the actual black characters.

With this mass 'Blacktober' making pale-skinned characters 'black' and ignoring the actual dark-skinned characters, I would had thought it would it ring alarm bells on the (sane) artists and people blackwashing characters. But nope. Not a word.
I think I found the guy that started it all.

EDIT: Don't black people celebrate their month on February? Why an extra month for this? Why not do this on their actual month to celebrate them? Or are the artists scared because the actual blacks will notice they were blackwashing the characters and ignoring actual dark-skinned characters?

genuinely don't get why #Blacktober is a thing like if any other 'race' did that sorta thing, they would be doxxed to high hell. imagine taking, i dunno, lucio from overwatch and making him white or eastern asian or even arab. and fact of the matter is them trying to make a character black whilst keeping to the original art style just doesn't look good most of the time.

as an asian bitch, something about making asian characters black makes me highly uncomfortable. but to be fair people say i'm whitewashed or some shit so whatever fuck me i guess right?

The one thing that gets really boring with the blackwashing art for me is hairstyles. Characters can have so many cool and unique hairstyles, but it all turns into either dreads, some form of afro or cornrow type stuff. I don't know much about black people's hair, but is it really so hard to do more unique styles?

Blackwashing Asian characters probably makes you uncomfortable because of it kicking your characters, or even culture, to the curb. Asian erasure if you want to consider it that. And for a lot of these black artists, I feel like they're doing it to appeal to their fairly undisclosed, personal black supremacist views. They beat down other races rather than propping up success stories of blacks to raise morale within their community. There are shows with black characters and even more with blacks with important creative positions. They just don't want to look for those shows for some reason.
After rambling on to make an intelligent reply that doesn't consist of a yes-man statement or a 10-IQ take, I've started to realize it isn't much different than when trans people started declaring that Hatsune Miku created Minecraft, wrote Harry Potter, or some other shit. They want to vehemently deny that their favorite character or creator doesn't fully support the trans movement. In this case, it's that these people want to deny the fact that their favorite characters and sometimes creators aren't black.

They could have hated Notch for a lot of different things that he stated or started supporting during his descent into lunacy. Instead, they go after his belief in transmedicalism. What a meme.

On the Hatsune Miku thing, it would be hilarious if her voice provider said or did something "terfy", just so they can't use the Hatsune Miku created [X] meme anymore.
Or maybe they would blame it on her being a poor ignorant Asian woman who is not truly awoken to equality.
Well, if you want to go digging (or ask someone who speaks Japanese to do it for you), look for Saki Fujita.

>tfw the guy who started it all isn't even black, but some white soyboy
:story:

it's probably been said but i feel like the majority of these blacktober pieces could be done well if the artists actually bothered to give a shit and put a little more love and thought into their work. what do i know though?

i seriously can't get over that inuyasha one. not only have they slapped a random shade of brown on him, but they went a step further and turned him into the sad dog that's too fat to jump on the couch. :c

Oh thanks, but I know who she is. Asking to have her quotes translated in a dumb attempt to find anything the "queers" would hate is ultimately useless though. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I know. I just went looking because I was curious. I knew Vocaloids were sampled from real people (and the phonetics of the Japanese language allow for that sort of synthetization), but I never actually looked it up.

It would be a waste of time either way. Japanese VAs and singers tend to keep a very tight lid on controversial personal opinions in public. Which... considering how English-speaking twitter celebs act like everybody cares about their opinion, is actually very refreshing.

This isn't diversifying fan art. You're turning anime characters into a fucking minstrel show.
Oh yeah, that reminds me of Brooker and Clayton's Georgia Minstrels, one of the first sucessful all black Minstrel Shows (and yes, they still wore Black-face).

Also, similarly contradictory sounding,Abba Ahimer's Revisionist Maximalism, which while zionist in nature, was a fascist movement who supported Mussolini and the not Anti-semtic part of Hitler's retoric. Unsuprisingly, they were quickly laughed out of the lime light and forgottent to history, though his son Ya'akov Ahimeir is now an Israeli Journalist and a television and radio personality.

Or.. or... get this... actually focusing on black characters.
I demand more fanart of my girls Mitchiko, Hatchin, and Atsuko!

Nope. All Eurasians are white now.
Germanic? White. Iberian? White. Celtic? White, clearly. Russian? White. Indian? White. Han? White. Mongolian? White. Korean. You're white too. Japanese? Super-white.
