I know Null doesn't like reaction images, but sometimes that's all a post deserves.

Boris is about 20 years younger and despite being a fat cunt does a bit of exercise so he's probably a bit fitter than he looks. It went downhill for him pretty quickly, one minute he was "under the weather but still working" and literally hours later that evening we had Dominic Rabb on the television, looking like he was about to burst into tears, telling the nation that the PM was in intensive care and he was having to run the country. I thought it was curtains for Boris, Rabb genuinely looked like he'd been told they were about to pull the plug or something like that.

Boris looks like total shit at the moment, it's pretty clear that COVID has taken a lot out of him. Trump will survive because he has access to the best healthcare in the world but if his condition does deteriorate it will be difficult for him to recover if only because of his advanced years. I don't like the guy but I hope he doesn't end up seriously ill.

The one point that Trump has in his favor that Boris Johnson didn't is the fact that it's far later in the pandemic and it looks like a lot of the newer corona cases have been getting milder as time goes on, which makes sense from an evolutionary perspective.

Usually, a virus will mutate in a way that makes it more contagious and more durable but less lethal. Boris fell ill in March, right as everything was popping off and the pandemic was in full swing. There's a good chance the coronavirus strain was more potent when Boris was infected back in March.

One of the reasons why Ebola never became a global pandemic despite being highly contagious is because it's so lethal that epidemics tend to burn themselves out quickly. That's why the Ebola epidemic in 2014 never really caught on outside a few extremely poor West African nations and the few cases that did make it to the United States were immediately quarantined and taken care of.

I'll see if there's any data that indicates the virus is getting less potent so it can survive longer in a host. This is just conjecture on my part and I'm not an expert, so take my words with a grain of salt.

There isn't. We have just gotten alot better at managing it. I've been curious about this too but the virus is still lethal to the wrong people. It has been mutating but not in a big way.
