Hospital is the best place. Patients with covid can go downhill very fast at certain points. They seem to have begun treating him with the remdesivir and that DM article says the polyclonal antibody as well (?) I’m sure he will be getting some convalescent plasma as well - I’d be pumping some of that in along with high dose activated vit d, bit of O2 as needed.
Even if he’s just fine and a bit breathless they will want to have him somewhere where if he does need sudden high level care then he can have it. Remember this virus can mess with your clotting and heart - right there where you can call on an entire hospital worth of people and kit and facilities is the appropriate place to be. The WH undoubtedly has good medical facilities but I doubt they’re quite as good as a full hospital. They will need a lab on site too - it’s just easier logistically

Of course-- it's an effective antiviral. It's just that, along with dexamethasone, it's a drug administered principally to severe cases because it saw the most efficacy there. If it's a severe case, he would be on oxygen or tubes. If he actually isn't on oxygen, they're being rather liberal with the administration of the drug.

Reminder that Remdesivir is supposed to be used for severe cases (as in, it's most efficacious for severe cases, and hardly for mild/moderate cases). It's curious that he's not on oxygen but they're putting him on Remdesivir.

Also, why isn't this memo finished?

Remdesivir is more effective the earlier it is given. The only reason it is typically saved for severe cases is more due to supply/demand issues.

Actually, of all the famous people and public figures who have gotten it (Tom Hanks, The Rock, Boris Johnson, etc.), how many have died from it? Zero as far as I can tell. Tells me this thing is treatable and this mix of leprosy and the Bubonic plague reputation the virus has is one that is overblown.

Swedish TV personality Adam Alsing died from COVID in april, he was 51 and healthy. But other than that and the guy from Fountains of Wayne I can't think of any celebrity who has died of it.
