Wuhan Coronavirus: Lockdowns, Quarantines, Cancellations

I'm starting to lean toward the idea that things are going to keep escalating in both directions until some serious civil disobedience involving mass casualties happens.

Like yeah, they keep extending shit, but here's the other thing: remember when the smug pro-lockdown Europoors said how only in America would there be anti-lockdown protests? Well, those protests are worldwide at this point.

One of my (now former) friends, who has been one of the loudest and most vocal people I know about #StayTheFuckHome throughout the past 6 months, just celebrated her baby shower. She had a party with more than a dozen people; they went out to a restaurant, nobody social distanced (as shown in the pictures she flaunted all over social media), and nobody bothered to wear a mask.

"#STAYTHEFUCKHOME and wear your masks, bigots ... Unless you're me, and you have a big life event coming up. Fuck your job, and fuck your life events ... But I can do it.",

I just ... I fucking hate everyone. 2020 has made me absolutely despise most people I know. Rotten, self-important pieces of shit.

Sky News is going into overdrive blasting Victorian premier Daniel Andrews for new legislation to extend the state of emergency for another whole year. Typical behaviour as usual from the right-wing sheep, calling the premier "a totalitarian dictator" when in fact the legislation only affects the powers of the Chief Health Officer in directing lockdown procedures.

Never have I ever wanted to punch Youtube commenters so hard in the face for crimes against reading comprehension and logic.
Posts that aged poorly.

Where's my society-ending Riots and National Guard Led Purges? I was promised them 46 pages ago.
Keep the powder dry and the club to hand, work will come in good time.

Really sorry to hear about that. Stay safe out there.

Still banned from the main thread, so I have to reply to posts here:
My school has already called Spring 2021 online only.
Fuck everything about that.
Fucking knew this would happen, every university's eventually gonna call it. It'll still be online-only in 2050 if the populace doesn't do shit about this situation.

Melbourne is easing lockdown measures; the night time curfew will be lifted on Monday, workers are returning to work and students are returning to schools. However, the fines for breaching anti-coronavirus regulations will now reach 5 000 AUD.

The Health Minister of Quebec is pleading with Quebeckers to avoid social gathering for the next 28 days, to head off a second wave, with the province reporting case numbers not seen since this spring.

The State of Florida has reopened all bars and restaurants without any restrictions, as well as limiting the retrictions that local governments can impose, despite having 700 000 cases and 14 000 deaths.

Very disingenuous way of reporting, since the vast majority of those cases and deaths occurred months ago and for context, 700,000 cases is a bit over 3% of Florida Men and Women and 14,000 deaths is 0.00065% of people. Sure wish the media would stop throwing out scary-sounding numbers without context to spread fear.

A WHO doctor says that countries with rising coronavirus case counts need to control the virus before the [Northern Hemisphere] winter.

The Dutch government has instituted new anti-coronavirus measures, banning people attending sports events, all bars and restaurants will close at 10 PM for three weeks. It is also advising that people in Amsterdam, The Hague and Rotterdam wear faces mask, and said that stores can deny service to anybody without a mask.

The province of Quebec has raised a red alert for the regions of Montreal (its largest city), Quebec City (its capital) and Chaudiere-Appalaches. It is asking people stay in their homes for four weeks, with movie theatres, libraries, concert halls, restaurant dining rooms, bars, taverns, casinos all closed in that time. Schools will not be closed, however. Private gatherings are banned and public gatherings have a limit for 25 people.

Slovakia has declared a state of emergency, has banned most public cultural and sporting events.

The New Zealand Prime Minster says that a Australia-New Zeland 'bubble' could be instituted by Christmas.

The UK is deciding if it is going to impose new lockdown measures for London and Northern England.

London(CNN) — As Europe transitions from summer into fall, countries that claimed to have the coronavirus under control are once again seeing a surge in infections. The United Kingdom, which has the biggest death toll on the continent, reported 12,872 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday, more than double the country's most recent seven-day rolling average, according to official figures.
Although the UK government blamed the spike on a "technical issue" where previously unreported infections from the past week had been added to the total, Prime Minister Boris Johnson warned Sunday: "This could be a very tough winter for all of us.

reported 12,872 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday

with 16,972 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, surpassing last week's record of 16,096

Poland reported 2,367 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday

Italy reported its highest daily increase since April 24, with 2,844 new coronavirus cases on Saturday

her country could see more than 19,000 cases per day by the end of the year.
Germany reported 2,673 new coronavirus infections on Friday

Sure is interesting how media only ever mentions new cases, and not deaths unless it's a running total like this:
According to the British government, the UK so far has a total of 480,017 recorded Covid-19 cases and 42,317 deaths.
If I didn't know any better, I'd think that they're trying to scare-monger, and make the situation sound as bad as possible.

@Hollywood Hulk Hogan I'm confused. You said if we had just given up basic constitutional rights, we would have been over it, just like Europe.

They're doing a lot better than we are.

If you right-wing manbabies would wear masks without throwing temper tantrums like a 2 year old we would be in a better position, too.
With how hospitals have been getting exposed for fudging their COVID numbers in order to get more money, I'm really skeptical about this new "surge."

Nailed it. I don't care about new case numbers. I want to know about new hospitalizations and new deaths as both a raw number and as a percentage of population. But that's too much context and it doesn't scare people enough.

It's just another scare piece to either:
A: Get the government to put the country under lockdown again and ruin the economy
B: Place the blame for the government putting the country under lockdown and ruining the economy on the populace
depending on who's pulling the strings
