I've been thinking lately of why I think grifting is so fucking gross and I realised I don't really give a shit about if people make money. The thing I don't like is these disgusting retards like Ralph, Spoony and DSP who literally can't do anything else with their life except grift. They have the laziness and entitlement of homeless people except they aren't that hard done by, and if they are it's because they won't fucking get a job despite being the kind of people who would sneer at people working in customer service.

To me, the line of what is acceptable is relative to the effort and professionalism that is put into whatever content is being made.

Take someone like Angry Joe, he puts out consistent content, of high production value (regardless of your opinion on whether it is actually good, I don't like him personally) and while he has had a few sperg-outs during his time as a YouTuber I would say that he could use his YouTube channel, the content he has produced etc as something he could put on his CV. He could walk into a media job, who wouldn't turn down someone who independently produced something that regularly draws in 1 million+ views. He treats it like a job, and the results speak for themselves.

Contrast this to Ralph, he's constantly embroiled in drama. The Killstream would be a net negative on his CV. He puts in little to no effort, and he would clearly be content to just sit and produce nothing while getting Patreon bucks. Except, Ralph can't do that because he knows without the Killstream he has no way to pull in a pay check. I mean for fucksake, the guy gets drunk on the podcast he considers to be his job - drinking and seething is not employment.

Everything he does now is just a money making venture, but this is not combined with the hard work and professionalism that would be required to make this honest pay for an honest days work.

Then he goes on, I don't know ironically or not, to talk about TotalBiscuit's widow who is saddled by her deceased husband's debt and how she needs to "grift" by earning money off the internet.
I watched a lot of tb
Tb and Genna owned a starcraft team that was a massive money pit. Even tough John and genna made a lot of money they didn´t save much. But they had enough to live really well until Tb got cancer and they spent all of their savings and got in to massive debt to try and save tb. Going so far as to sell their house.
Tb also ranted a lot about the state of US medicare so im gonna guess that he was not insured.

TB, Dodger leigh and Jesse cox had a really succesfull podcast that ran almost 8 years until TB death.
TB was extremly stubborn and principled and could have made a lot more money if he compromised a little with his ethics. https://twitter.com/totalbiscuit/status/765248588603686912

Tbs last apperance on the podcast was #215 the podcast ran until #257. About a year and a half after Tbs death.
So im gonna assume that Genna had an agreement with Jesse and Dodger that the show would go on until Genna was all set with her work and debts. Genna also has an special needs son.

Razorfist is another good example of this, plus I am pretty sure that youtube is his side hustle and he actually does something else professionally outside of youtube. Dude legit does music documentaries better than MTV and VH1, so regardless of how you feel about his politics or. . . his video game spergary, he still delivers a pretty solid product.

Actually, after Sargon's lawsuit wins, I would say that Tea Clips is fair use because she is clipping only what is necessary for her commentary, which in this case would be her video titles, and sometimes video descriptions.

Maybe. That's not how vertical stare decisis works though.

Sargon won't have a precedent for us to work off from until and unless Hughes appeals, loses, and there is a published decision that clarifies the parameters of Fair Use. A single unpublished trial court decision doesn't count. I've tried to educate people on KF on how this works. In this case, you can't just walk into some court, slap a single dismissal from the S.D. of New York on the bench, and expect to automatically win.

To be clear, I hope Hughes appeals to the Second Circuit and loses. I further hope they find the case interesting enough to publish their decision. All of you should pray for that. Then it would be a mandatory authority within that circuit, and a persuasive authority outside of it. A SCOTUS decision would make it nationwide and possibly untangle any circuit splits.

In the end, I dunno if what Tea Clips is doing is legit. I doubt anybody knows... yet. Which is to say I don't personally have an issue with her doing it.

I'm not sure the argument is about legality at all. It seems to be more about if you should make money off content when you know the original creator you are clipping specifically makes statements against monetizing their content. I might be way off of course.

He wasted all of the family money on sham treatments, fake cures and hope. To save his own life he put his wife and her kids life in harm's way because he was a right cunt for at least 2 years before Kicking the bucket.
Well it was a stepchild after all.
IDK its a tough call atleast for me, remember he wasn´t a geriatric old man, he was like 30. Doctor first tought that he had like 90 (good)-10 (bad) or something like that. I proably would do all in my power to fight to the end. WONT YOU FIGHT FOR YOU LIFE?

Shit talking your friend's girlfriend to his face is 100% acceptable.

You'd have to be autistic to think he's going to respond well though. And usually it's none of your fucking business if he's banging some dumb thot. Save that shit for when it's life wrecking, like she's cheating on him with his other best friend or so BPD psycho she's going to burn his house down or some shit. And even then expect he's going to react badly.

Saying almost anything is fair use authoritatively without a court having ruled on it is generally overconfident and the absolute last thing you should ever want to do is have to argue something is fair use.

PPP and Godwinson are bitter at the monitization, but I interpreted their "warning" to her (to stop) as a warning that they might start DMCA striking. Whether that would be a valid maneuver is still technically an open question. We have uncomfortably little published case law on clipping channels and clip videos that are only slightly transformative. The tech the average person has access to has outrun the law we have concerning it.

Exactly.

We need some of these flaggers to start marching appeals upwards. I was kinda hoping Matt Hoss would do it. Now I'm finding myself hoping Akilah Hughes will do it.

Like the UK would have even bothered to start treatments until he was in stage 3-4, followed rapidly by transfer to hospice(end of life) care.
The 100% would have let him die. The us system has a lot of flaws, but giving up on people is not one of them

Uhm thatwould be a fatal misstake. They wouldn´t have an ally left in this world.
I think the intention was just to fuck with them a little.
