The comparison of provision of puberty blockers with abortion is erroneous. Pregnancy is a progressive physiological process with a well-defined cause and a well-defined course, that if doctor and patient both consider it preferable to terminate the pregnancy, it can only be done through medication or surgery. On the contrary, we don't know what causes prepubertal gender confusion (although we highly suspect it to be a sociological, not physiological process); we do know 90% of cases resolve on its own but we don't know how best to deal with the rest. It is borderline unethical for NHS to advocate an unproven intervention (here the NHS has committed themselves on harmful campaigning) of what might even prove to be a non-medical condition.
