As far as the "Self defense" claims for Pinkerton Antifa, the thing is in general (with some exceptions), you can not claim self defense if you were the first one to use force e.g. I push some one, they respond, I shoot that person. I can not claim self defense as I started it, if Pinkerton did push the deceased first, Pinkerton's actions can not (again in general) be considered Self defense.
My understanding is deadly force can only used to meet (a reasonable fear of) deadly force, and you can't have initiated that deadly force.
Is Lee had slapped Doloff, Doloff slapped him back, Lee pulls a knife and stabs him to death, Lee can't use self defense.
If the above happened, but Doloff shoots when the knife comes out, he can use self defense.
If that second scenario plays out, but Doloff misses and Lee stabs him to death, Lee can't claim self defense.
If Lee slaps Doloff, Doloff draws, fires, and misses, and Lee then stabs him to death, Lee can make a self defense claim.
I guess that would mean that if the Kenosha events had played out differently, and Grosskreutz had blown Kyle's brains out, he could have claimed self defense.
All independent of whether a jury would believe them, of course
