What? Metroid and zelda 1 were both released on the famicom disk system in Japan, both had the ability to save on the disk. Zelda had battery backed sram in the us and pretty much functioned the same way it did in Japan minus the floppy disk stuff. Metroid in the us was not able to save. As far as I know both versions of dragon quest/warrior can save. None of these games could save state, obviously.
I don't get how this makes Americans spoiled. They wouldn't spam save in the chat if korone wasn't constantly using states in the first place.
