Rate me late if this has already been brung up but it’s nearly a 200 page thread.
back in one of their mine craft videos Gavin put up a sign saying “Ryan the baby rape guy” which was censored in the video but was confirmed to be what it said (I’ll find sources soon). This coming off the back of Ryan making some mention of having to put your finger in a baby’s ass to clean out the poop properly. His whole persona in Achievement hunter always had creepy predator vibes

Yeah that was one of the first in hindsight moments brought up when this all dropped, all those old clips are now super fucking creepy with everything we know now.

im actually surprised achievement hunter is still going. i stopped watching once lindsay kept popping up in videos fairly regularly like 5 years ago or so. that plus the new batch that was slowly moving in just didn't do it for me and lindsay is fucking nails on a chalkboard for me. i've noticed their videos struggle to hit 100k a lot of the time these days so, maybe it's just cause geoff and jack were so involved and jack still being there that they sort of just let it slide but i have no idea how it's sustainable with the views they bring in.

funhaus i imagine is dead for close to the same reasons. adam was a core member and the new team suuuucks. i don't mind jon smith or alanah but all these people they've been doing videos with and the new group is just bland as fuck. james and elyse aren't saving it imo.

Warner has been cutting down in a number of areas, and some nerd company in texas that just had a big scandal? That's prime real estate and a potential profit wound in one. Corporations care for nothing but the bottom line, and RT shows zero signs of changing course. They're dead in the water if they don't smarten up, but the brand name is becoming poison. The only reason they were acquired in the first place was because of the 'geek culture boom' over the last several years. If they can't give them a reason to keep existing that isn't a net negative, they're done.

They're more likely to be "reorganized" into some other part of Warner Media, possibly absorbed fully into DC. I think Warner's already been testing the waters with that anyway. Warner will drop most of the live action stuff, maybe keep a bit of it around here and there for streaming service filler, fire pretty much everyone but the major names involved in RWBY and that will be that. I'm sure any pain those names have will be soothed with the idea that they may now get to work in "legit" comics as well, and the fact that the comics industry tends to react to sex pest scandals with a shrug and a "Yeah, we know."

Here's something that should be useful for any archivists.

To be brief, this archive contains a python script that can scrape RT's backend, a database from said script as of August, a sqlite script to extract data from the database (notably GO, but it's not hard to change for anyone with any sql expertise), and a shell script to download the output of the sqlite script with youtube-dl.

To be less brief, I hate using websites to watch videos, the players are ass and they're tracking me via all sorts of finger-printable information which they then sell to fund their business. YouTube supports rss feeds which you can play with vlc, mpv, youtube-dl, etc, that's how I watch videos for the most part, avoids the tracking and their algorithm choosing which videos to show me. Except RT was desperate to get their YT audience on their shitty platform, so I started writing a tool to generate rss feeds for their site so I could continue not using it. I lost interest in that just before I finished it too, such is, but then they deleted a bunch of YT content or something and I turned my tool into an archive utility of sorts.

Fun fact: with the right sql you can filter out specific cast members from videos you archive, they started tagging that sometime this year. That was a feature I intended to add, but I lost interest first.

And if anyone is curious, no, this cannot archive deleted videos, it expects you to use youtube-dl to download them from urls.

I quit watching AH right when Ray left, and I always never liked any video that had Lindsay or Jeremy or whoever else they got to stand in, so imagining them without much of the original crew sounds terrible. Them barely getting 100k views is also quite sad, considering they easily were getting a million views on their Minecraft videos back then, they were probably the most popular thing at RT besides RvB and RWBY.
