I'm no film connoisseur, so I can't claim I know the nuances of filmmaking and storytelling, but maybe if I researched about them, I would have at least a better vision of cinema and the ways it can convey stories, allegories, et cetera. Is it too hard for Acetato Roberto to study about this, so he can see and understand the intrincacies of the medium that is supposed to be his bread and butter, and thus hone his bacon-bringing skill? Just fifteen minutes a day to get off Twitter and read, form a healthy habit and make his takes actually worth something.

The best thing about MovieBob is he doesn't actually care about film criticism or gaming history or any actual metrics you could ascertain the value of something.

The first scene in First Blood is really depressing. Rambo drops by his buddy's house and finds out the guy died due to cancer from Agent Orange. The whole point of the franchise is that the US Government made Rambo into a weapon and didn't really have any plan for demobilizing him and he came home with severe PTSD to a country hostile to veterans, so he keeps getting pushed into fighting despite really wanting to be left alone.

The ending is pretty brilliant, too.

I've had the theory that the Chipheads are close enough to Gen X that they took Kevin Smith movies as gospel that opining over pop culture is the height of intellectually. They don't give one fuck about the art of film making or game production, it's all "thing I like is cool, and here is why it's cool, aren't I smart".

They hate them for being religious but like them for being an ethnic minority, so the secular Jews like Bernie get a pass. But they are also white passing so get all the white privilege, and they are academically and financially successful, much like Asians, so they are complicit in oppression. Then you have the Israel/Palestine conflict, where the Jews are colonizers and Muslims are lower in the hierarchy scale, and they generally aren't "white passing", so they have to side with them. I'm not even sure they realize Islam has the same roots as Judaism and Christianity, and they just think of Islam as some exotic religion, like Buddhism.
