JustI know that this will probably be buried under current events, but I have been doing some thinking on why leftist organizations are putting out biased polls.
People have speculated that it is about voter suppression. I agree that that is definitely part of the intent, but I think there is another motivation.
Influencing elected leaders to think that their base is actually further left than they think it is on whatever is at hand. Think about it, normally these polls also ask people's general opinion on a multitude of subjects (guns, welfare, LGBT issues). The vast majority of your politicians are state and local officials. These lower level politicians do not usually have the same access to internal polling data as their national level counterparts especially if they are not in a "competitive" state. So here comes a "totally trustworthy" media poll telling you that 65% of your constituents support [insert liberal policy], so you better move your position or be voted out in the next election!
It is essentially a big "bandwagoning" campaign.
So, it isn't just voter suppression, it is to effect policy maker decisions as well.
Media influencing the elite and politicians is old as Greek democracy.
