Oh look asking for $2,500 for $1,000 AT MOST worth of parts and labor. And the grift goes on.

Solenoid= $35
Water pump= $175-200
Alternator= $200
Serpentine Belt=$10-20
Battery=$150-200

So $650 on the high end for parts. Throw on let’s say 4 hours of labor at the standard $75 an hour. You’re at $950. Solenoid is a 20-30 minute job. Water pump, maybe an hour. Alternator is maybe an hour. That leaves another 90 minutes to slip on a belt and swap a battery.

These jobs might be even easier considering how much room there is to work with in a 2500HD engine bay.

The only thing I can’t calculate is the oil leak. If it is an oil pan gasket, you’re talking maybe a $20 part and 25 minutes worth of work if there nothing in the way. Could also be valve cover gaskets which again are cheap and relatively quick to replace.

But if you are talking a rear main seal leak, then that requires the engine to come out and that’s at least a $400-500+ job to replace a $40 seal.

Regardless, still not even close to $2,500.

Should have bought another truck and got that one serviced instead of starting on more building expansions. Get twice as much done and get paid twice as much in a day, there's like 8 people living there at this point, no?

That is, assuming the truck even needs those repairs. I find it hard to believe anyone can get to the point where they needs 6 parts fixed without noticing any issues.

I seriously doubt that there's anything wrong with the car to begin with. The damn thing's barely off the salesroom floor. If this much has gone wrong with it in so little time, surely there's something in the contract that says they can take it back to the dealer for it to be serviced.

Also, that does seem like a goodly bit of work for a truck that is at the oldest a 2014, but it's not totally unreasonable, especially if they have a 2017 2500, which is notorious for having a lot of problems. Fortunately, the water pump comes off to get to the VVT solenoid, the belt's gotta come off to replace the alternator, which also requires the battery to be disconnected, and all of that can be done without a jack stand and with all of one very small and cheap "specialized" tool (for the belts). That just leaves the oil problem for an actual mechanic to fix. Look at all those savings!
