Did Obama pick Biden as his running mate in 2008 while knowing his son was the bag man for basically every corrupt Dem, was he unaware (he'll claim he was at least), or did this stuff not kick off until Joe became VP?

Obama started as an outsider to national politics (hence why Hillary Clinton was allowed to spread stories about him being a Kenyan Muslim). He had his connections back in his own swamp in Chicago and that was it. Biden was the DNC's choice since they demanded an establishment guy on the ticket. If Obama didn't sign off on Biden, it would've been some other swamp critter.
