Sacha's just a weird, spergy Israeli clown who likes to parody perceived lower-class demographics, the shit he pulled in the U.S. being another good example.

Borat was meant to parody Kazakh culture but Kazakhstan (as someone previously pointed out) along with the entire Central Asian region up to countries like Uzbekistan and Tajikstan still have a strongly ethnically Russian diaspora within their countries' borders inherited from their time spent under the reign of initially the Tsar and then the Soviets, and tend to mesh weird Slavic cultural elements with historically Central Asian and Muslim elements of culture.

Really, all in all, he fucked with Slavs, Muslims, and Central Asians all at once with that identity, but like I said Sacha is an odd sperglord who - despite his notoriously insensitive history - has been known to deride Conservative demographics for alleged intolerance and celebrate his Israeli identity while refusing to acknowledge his own stereotypes.

Eh, I always got the feeling Borat was supposed to be a parody of Eastern Europeans in general, which is why they filmed the "Kazakhstan" scenes in rural Romania. Given that he didn't want to name any actual Slavic countries and lose out on the box office money since so many of those former Eastern Bloc nations are either part of the EU (Poland, Romania, Croatia) or are on good terms with the EU and the West (Ukraine, Albania)

That's why Cohen decided to have Borat be from a Central Asian country that your average American or even Western European knows nothing about beyond the fact it was once part of the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union. If he had a little more tact and wasn't a spergy Jewish edgelord, he'd try and pull a Prisoner of Benda and name a fictional country that's vaguely Eastern European.

Hell, if Borat was from Ruritania, it would work as both an obviously fake country that could make a lot of the improv scenes funnier and double as a literary reference for the more well-read moviegoers. Prisoner of Benda is in the public domain too, so it's not like he'd even have to worry about royalties.

No, you're actually entirely right on this one.

Sasha Baron Cohen is a petulant asshole who uses his Jewish identity to deflect any criticisms of racism or homophobia from his material. If he wasn't a Jew, he'd be condemned as an "evil straight white male bigot" by now.

Bruno is just a walking gay joke that would've worked in the 80's but otherwise is played out, Ali G is meant to be a parody of East London or Manchester chavs but could easily be misconstrued as a mockery of inner city blacks by American audiences, and then there's Borat.

Funny...American here. I haven't seen anything from Sasha in ages and the last thing I remember seeing were the Ali G shorts way back I think on HBO. I never realized it was what you said - I always thought Ali G was supposed to be a European who was obsessed with American blacks and hip hop culture and trying to play the stereotypical Londoner / European who's never been to America but is obsessed with the stereotypes thinking it makes them look like a legit American. Like a walking, talking personification of the song Americano but obsessed with American ghetto culture.

American here too. When I first saw Ali G, I thought it was a parody of hip-hop culture and American ghetto stereotypes as well. I found out later on that it was supposed to be a parody of British chav culture.

Youre talking about division. Im talking about infrastructure.

A central authority (this case the federal government) can only project power and retain control as long the infrastructure is intact.

If the roads and railroad tracks were to magically vanish over night then the ability to send troops goes as well.

If phone lines and internet cable were to go then the ability to communicate gets trashed as well.

The will, the human capital and culture needed to up keep these things is non existent these days.

Thats on the voting public. America now values censoring naughty words and feelings more then making sure the toliets flush. Or making sure plumbing still carries waste so it doesnt pile up in the street.

Thats also adding to voters resisting tax increases to make sure such services are actually funded.

Even if it was funded such services still wont have enough due to corruption. Local Elected officials in charge of such facilites have a habit of taking a cut.

Add to that those put in directorate jobs are hired based on how much they helped the mayor or whatever get elected. Not cause they have the technical training and experience.

Not good.

This is based on accounts told to me who worked in those industries.

So the infrastrucrure is already disintegrating. Thats under peaceful conditions.

Without centralized services (water, roads, electricity, central post office, ect) the end result will be geographic isolation and seperation. That what will create the death of the current unified American idenity and create new localized ones. So a fragmented america wont be because of political division but due to no longer giving a shit about the upkeep.

Add a open civil war and things such as roads, electric grid and what not will get destroyed.
Over the long haul the ability to replace such losses will get slimmer and slimmer.

Eventually the infrastructure wont be rebuilt

So with the judge in the Chauvin case ruling that Murder 3 means endangering someone besides the person you are accused of killing (lolwhut?) I think we can safely say they are planning on getting Chauvin and the others off. Murder 2 was always a stretch and the way the whole George Floyd death was portrayed before we found out he ODed on fentanyl.

Murder 3 seemed sensible... since it's all about acting with reckless disregard for someone's safety and then them dying. The Judge's verdict would basically make murder 3 not even a thing. He probably just wants it off the table because the Murder 2 case is weak and man slaughter convictions at the worst means the other three can't be counted as accessories.


Well, already wrote Minneapolis off as embers by the end of all this. Better keep digging this fire break,

No, the US Military are extremely good at logistic they have experience in sending shit to places where no one else can (e.g. taking over a Haitian airport after the earth quake and improving the efficiency massively and the Berlin Blockade).

Also there is a reason why there are helicopter transports and airborne divisions. It will take more then "no roads and no trains" for the US Federal Government to lose the ability to project its power over the states.
