While there can be good reasons, its Tumblr. This is a convention that came from Tumblr. The only reason they don't want revealing outfits and R-rated gore is the same as the GamerGate thing in that it could trigger someone for whatever reason. You'd have con members that would be offend by some sexy cosplay (even if their rabid hatred turned out to be shaming) and other con attendees that get overly sensitive to say some guy cosplaying a RE6 zombie that has a plastic toy axe on his head.

Someone within that group of people is gonna get offended no matter what, so why would they even have a second Dashcon in the first place?

I wish I lived closer. The original Dashcon is a hilarious story to read, and the videos posted from the "con" are simply astounding. The ballpit and game room were pretty much the icing on the most delicious cake (I must eat it) ever. And now there's a Dashcon 2.0. They're absolutely going to bomb this one horribly as well, I just hope it's as entertaining as the first.

I would love to see a list of panels at this convention ("Finding YOUR True Pronouns", "Kin Experiences LIVE!", "Whose Trigger Is It Anyway"). God damn, if I could attend I'd just be a fly on the wall for you all and record as many panels as possible and take a ton of pictures.

Having Dashcon in Florida is sadly a perfect match. The most fucked up convention in the most fucked up state in the US.

However, there has been some speculation on KiA that this is just a troll posting and Dashcon is truly defunct. In any case, there isn't any DashCon listed under the OCCC's Events List... but knowing how well managed the last Dashcon was, it really could go either way.
