Why does Tumblr have an obsession with vitiligo?

  • Suicide Girl model and America's Next Top Model contestant have it, spread on Tumblr, that's why.

Of course they made Peppermint Patty trans because she's a tomboy. The whole reason Charles Schulz created her was to show girls that they could play sports and wear shorts, just like boys do. This was in the 60s too, a time where gender stereotypes were still pretty enforced.. Honestly, I think it's also quite offensive to transwomen and transmen to make the masculine girl the trans one, because it just plays into the stereotype that all trans women are super masculine, or that all masculine cis girls are actually trans men.

EDIT: spelling lol

Stumbled upon this abomination. Goddamn the shading on the skin is unfortunate - makes them look wrinkly, and of course they’re holding the severed heads of white dudes because OW THE EDGE.

(Catching up on the thread)...please let this be some kinda joke... it looks like it was drawn by a white supremacist trying to portray black women as "Ghetto fat-ass Hoop ringed savages." "

This image is singlehandedly making me regret my career as a black artist, and it's a shame cause the background actually looks good/decent!

Only other "evidence" I can think of is that Marcie calls her "sir", which is only because she doesn't fully understand proper manners. (I'm bad at explaining it but hopefully you understand what I mean) Also, Peppermint Patty corrects her a lot by saying "stop calling me sir!" so I guess they never really thought that through.

I will say, this thread always seems to lean heavy into Jojo's Circus or whatever it's called. There's either an overabundance of Jojo fanart in SJW circles, or it's just what most of the people here like and it's what they find more of.
I blame the anime bringing in Twitter and Tumblr users. This isn't a "I liked it before it was mainstream" kind of thing, this is about people who were previously unaware of the series being suddenly drawn into it because it's popular, and doing what they always do to fandoms. Sometimes it's a good thing and sometimes it's not. Part 4 and 5 were particularly bad about this.

You forgot Part 6.

So, in my travels through the blacktober tag on twitter, I've noticed this guy coming up a lot: https://mobile.twitter.com/DeathNate4

Hes very pro blacktober, going so far as to publicly tell a Japanese native they are racist and another Japanese person they dont know they are being oppressed when people say Jap: https://twitter.com/kitsuowo/status/1320295342236205057?s=20

He also got mad at someone else when they posted a thread of black anime characters: https://twitter.com/DeathNate4/status/1320301700197081088?s=20

Heres a few of my favorites from him:

"Stay tired then. Don't follow the tags. We don't care. Race-bent fanart is a lot more interesting than just redrawing the small selection of black anime characters there are."

He doesn’t seem to understand that by ignoring the already existing black characters in favor of dumping buckets of brown paint onto anime characters he’s flat out admitting that he doesn’t believe those characters could stand on their own merits or would get artists the attention if they were to draw those characters, which means that people will continue to look at the trend where fans make race bends while giving zero recognition to the actual black/dark-skinned characters and think "well I guess we shouldn’t bother then." I also can’t help but notice that ever since race bending became trendy, people seem to have actually been doing less fanart of canonically black characters... almost like this really is just a cheap stunt for performative wokeness and not a sincere effort to make things #diverse and will quickly be dropped for the next pet minority cause or something...

It’s a defeatist, self-fulfilling prophecy.

...so he's basically admitting that he's racist.

Holy shit, how much fucking entitled and ignorant can one person be. This guy is honestly like Moviebob on steroids. Because if Bob would get caught in his own trap, he would backpedal, bit this guy has the "Dindu get out of trouble card" and he waves the fact that he's black like a weapon to excuse his shitty behaviour and shitty arguments.

Squid Momma (you probably know who i'm talking about) also raised the same issue and she constantly takes a lot of heat for pointing out that a lot of black artists don't take a shot at making their own characters and instead they just change the race of existing characters or don't give attention to already existing black characters.

Because nowadays, how many people you see making fanart of Blade? Or giving a mild amount of praise to Killer Bee from Naruto? Not even fucking Black Panther gets much attention, even if he was crowned the leader of the black nerd community. For me it's fucking incredible how these people just follow trends like sheep. But well, a lot of people also do instead of being passionate about something.

Unfortunately, it's easier to consoom and to just pick out the cream of the crop rather than look for the characters that resemble yourself that you wish were more visible. It's easy when someone else makes something visible, but to be the one to go and do it? That's a different story. I'd bet the average unwoke creative type has more black OCs than the average Blacktober artist. :P

I wonder if this is truly a black person, or just a white person pretending to be black to have more credibility.

This blacktober shit is no different from a Deviantart fetishist drawing obese versions of their favorite characters. And I'll give these weirdos credit for being up-front and saying "yeah I think my waifu being piggu fat is kinda hot" instead of making some driveled mental gymnastics on why their fanart is 'empowering'.
Let's combine the two and see what we get!

Oh god...

Oh god.....
