"MUH DEMOCRACY"

I hate when people try to act dramatic about how voting in the election is going to "SAVE DA DEMOCRACY"

When America's system is a constitutional-republic.
They probably think it's a synonym for peace and order. So, they might be doubly wrong with their use of it.

I don't get why this has become the new meme thing to say. A constitutional republic is a type of democracy. You seem to believe only a direct democracy classifies as democracy. That's retarded.

While it is a democracy, the people preaching about "MUH DEMOCRACY" act like the American system is a direct democracy or wish it to be so because of how "facist" the electoral college is, while it has some flaws, there is no reason for it to change

That's not how the average person sees it. They don't understand why we don't put literally every single thing to a popular vote because they keep being told they lived in a democracy. We split hairs over calling it a constitutional republic because the average American understands democracy only in the context of a direct democracy, i.e. two wolves and a sheep voting over what's for dinner, or two rich white guys and an African immigrant voting over who gets to pick the cotton.

What about anime and manga? I see those Japanese comics and cartoons (and the art styles associated with them) becoming a lot more prominent in American culture as of late. They are certainly more prominent in contemporary American "youth culture" nowadays.
Outside of DBZ, sailor moon, Miyazaki, and some naruto memes, anime still doesnt quite have the penetration needed to be accepted into the American headspace the way other foreign works like Harry Potter have. Time will tell if this changes, but as things are now anyone trying to tweet parallels between Shinji Ikari and Gendo, with the American people and the body politic, is going to be laughed out of the room.

But like it was said earlier it's probably a good thing. That separation from western idpol horseshit is a huge selling point, hence the recent spike in interest.

Has there be anything new on that? Last time I checked, they were getting mad over a short girl having huge boobs.

The most recent one I remember is the twitter sphere tried cancelling a vtuber because she had a young looking avatar and that causes pedophilia or something.

I know a lot of people like to meme about TDS, but it's really sad and frustrating to me how much it's divided America. You can't politely disagree anymore, you can't talk things out now, it's all so sickeningly partisan. And it will all come to a head soon.

You mean uzaki-chan? I remember someone drawing a fan art of abby killing uzaki. It was at the height of tlou2's backlash

Sure, they probably have an IQ range of 110 to 120, but that’s not an indicator of intelligence; that just means you’re able to process more abstract concepts. What clearly trips redditors up for me is their clear lack of literacy because not one that I’ve seen has been able to read an article or book and make a detailed analysis on why it’s inaccurate or biased. I mean fuck even “right leaning” subreddits like KotakuInAction couldn’t call out bullshit written in a clearly biased and poorly written article where a totally real source claimed the japs didn’t care and/or laughed about gender neutral options in Animal Crossing.

This country stopped being a democracy when Bush was elected.
1824 dude. That one went to Congress and reasonably could be the most fucked election we had. Runner up would be 1876, which was literally decided in a smoky room, the two parties trading favors (namely ending Reconstruction) to get Hayes in office. Besides, we were always a republic.

Gore would've been a terrible president and we still would've gone into Iraq. Wilson, FDR, Truman, LBJ, all democrat presidents that committed the US to foreign wars. McCain could've won in 2008 promising a Nixonesque peace-with-honor.

Ten years? Hell, didn't Biden or Fauci the Great say we need a mask mandate through 2022?
That is the slipperyist of slopes. Just 6 weeks. Just a few months. Just 2 more years. Just until 2030. The year 5000: No one quite knows why we evolved a mask-like appendage over our face, it seems to serve no purpose.

Even giving them another month is too much. Every one of those efforts must be rebuffed or doooom.

I'd also lay the blame on hacks like Jon Stewart.
Jon Stewart is coming back to the world of TV news.

The former “Daily Show” host, 57, has landed a deal with Apple TV+ and has already signed on to make multiple seasons, according to Variety. Each one-hour episode will explore a single topic relating to current events and an accompanying podcast.

If that sounds familiar, it’s because it’s the same format that Stewart protégé John Oliver uses on his Emmy-winning HBO show “Last Week Tonight.” It was also the same format another Stewart protégé Hasan Minhaj used in his recently axed Netflix show “Patriot Act.”

During his 16-year tenure on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” from 1999 to 2015, Stewart won a whopping 22 Emmys and established a new way that Americans engaged with news during the Bush and Obama years. The satirical news show proved to be a star-maker, launching the likes of Oliver, Stephen Colbert, Steve Carell, Samantha Bee, Ed Helms, Larry Wilmore and Rob Riggle, among others.

Since leaving in 2015 and handing “The Daily Show” reins to Trevor Noah, Stewart has kept a low profile, emerging for the occasional appearance on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” and making a few films (such as this year’s “Irresistible,” which saw a tepid reception)./quote]
He has a new show coming out next year. I wonder what percent of his time will be targeting Trump and shilling heavily for anti-white social justice insanity? 98%, 99%?

I gotta say, I found it amusing that one of Biden's commercials as to why he should be elected over Trump is stating that he was with Obama for eight years, and will continue that legacy or some crap. Like, that's what people want to see make a come back.

Though I have to admit, I'm kind of worried about the upcoming election due to all the TDS that I've been seeing. Basically, I worry that the public, fed up with just how widespread it all is, are going to pick Biden purely because they are sick of hearing all this stuff, and want things to get back to normal, which Biden is promising.

Conservatives on Reddit don't use KotakuInAction, most of them understand the world is more than video games. /r/conservative isn't great but it's much better than /r/politics, and /r/shitpoliticssays is hilarious.
