No one here hates or even dislikes Jeb, although a fair few harbour (justified) resentment to the man's family. They are, after all, the closest Republican equivalent to the Democratic Clinton dynasty.

That being said, Jeb was nonetheless considered an archtypical Republican jobber candidate who would serve as meek cannon fodder if he made it through the primaries. It still boggles the mind that they funneled money into his run knowing full well that it had only been eight years since Dubya. I would not have discounted a Obama '08-esque blowout if he had been the one to face Killary.
Absolutely zero people hate him here.

Even less people here respect him, though.

I think NJ will go blue but I could maybe see it go light blue and that could help Trump with popular votes

Are there any state offices or House seats up for grabs in New Jersey this year? I know the gubernatorial elections in New Jersey are the year after the presidential one, same as Virginia.
All Is House seats are up because it's an even year. Cory Booker's Senate seat is up, and other than that it's all county and local positions.

NJ state officies, Gov. And assembly ore on in odd number years unfortunately.

Ohio is a guarantee. It's arguably not even a swing state anymore, at least under the Trump incarnation of the GOP
True, but its similar to blue Texas, gerogia and Arizona as in people with massive TDS think it is in play this election

It was my first time voting in a presidential election today.
I feel so lucky I'm not in the Hillary Clinton 2nd term VS Jeb Bush timeline where I vote for some independent candidate with no chance before going home and trying to not think about WWIII.

I've been eligible to vote since the 90's and never did until 2016; before that, I'd never seen a candidate fielded by either side that was worthy of my vote, or one as filthy as Hillary. Besides, voting while OCONUS & on deployment was a pain-in-the-ass.

Praying your first vote ends as well as mine.

Overheard my Polish coworker talking to somebody.

“People are saying Biden is up, 7, 10 points? It doesn’t look like that. I see the stores boarded up, I saw the lines. Like they say, ‘buckle up’ everyone”.

That's the thing; no one is boarding up their store windows because of "white supremacists," they know the violence will come from a completely different direction.

It's finally the day. I voted earlier and went full red, the first time in my life. Couldn't even imagine it just a couple of years ago. I wanted to take stock of what's been happening around here, in a deep deep blue area.
  • Signs for Biden have increased recently. Obviously no pro-Trump stuff in the City of Roses itself, but even just a quick trip outside the boundaries and I saw, surprisingly enough, a couple of pro-police signs as well as some MAGA paraphernalia. Travel a bit further out and it's probably around a 1:1:1:1 ratio of pro-Trump, pro-Biden, anti-Trump, and pro-police. However, the Biden stuff is stock signs bought from somewhere, whereas the other three categories tended to be more creative, handmade, or just fucking huge, with the largest being MAGA signs.
  • Portland isn't a ghost town, but the number of people walking the streets even during the day have plummeted. Meanwhile the homeless problem has only exploded. Entire fucking streets are blocked off by their shitty tents, and I'm sure pictures have been posted of their parking lot tent cities. Everyone jokes about not being in the city after dark but even during the day you'll have crazies throwing shit at you, screaming at you, etc. This was happening before, of course, but not to this degree.
  • I know a handful of people who have left Portland. Around half of them literally dropped everything, threw their family, pets, laptops, and a suitcase or two of clothing into their cars and just left, coming back later for more of their stuff. None of them have moved back thus far.
  • Politics have been clamped down on. A month or so ago, it was "vote for Democrats" from various coworkers. Well someone must have complained, because the message changed to just "vote". Had me a bit of a giggle when the messaging changed.
  • Not a single person believes Biden will win. Everyone seems resignated to four more years of Trump, even the most rabid supporter. Of course, some are espousing the viewpoint that voter fraud will be the sole reason why he will win, but most seem to realize how poor Biden is as a candidate.
  • After the fires had somewhat quelled, there was a bit of an impromptu get together. Someone brought out some beer, and we all chatted for a while. The subject of the fires came up, and someone mentioned that they had caught seven arsonists responsible for a lot of the fires. One of my neighbors spoke up and said "It was more than seven. We have cops in the family. It was more than seven." He didn't seem to want to elaborate. But the words hung in the air for a while.
  • COVID lockdowns have strained everyone. Even people who have steady and safe jobs they can do virtually don't want these fucking lockdowns anymore. I know a couple of people who've had family members die in hospitals without being able to say goodbye. Because of covid.
I don't believe that Oregon will turn red, that's pretty much a pipe dream. But I'm hoping that they don't give up on my state. Despite all this happening, most are still blaming Trump, or police, or whatever for everything that's happening to the city. It's all rather heartbreaking.

I'm sure whatever the result, it'll certainly be an interesting night at least with plenty of said to harvest.

The college vote has completely collapsed if the GOP is carrying Alachua (Gainesville/UF). I wonder if Leon (Tallahassee/FAMU/FSU) looks similar.

This isn't scientific at all, but last year I bought a bunch of candy for trick or treaters and it was gone by 8:00. Went out partying this Halloween, had over half my candy left. Either it's because all college kids are missing or Covid is scaring people.

Apartments around here are offering 2 free months with a yearlong lease.

Guns are still flying off the shelf, and people are literally calling stores to see when trucks come to refill ammo. I've seen lines form at 6 am for stores that open at 8 for first dibs on ammunition.

Leon county will probably be blue, but a light blue, and everywhere else in the panhandle (including Gadsden county, a black county northwest of Tallahassee) will be absolutely crimson because the lockdowns are killing us. We're a tourism and light industry area except for the capital. We can't handle another summer of lockdowns without massive economic disruption.

BLM tried marching in Crawfordville, 45 minutes south of Tallahassee, and were basically run out of town.

The panhandle is Trump's redneck fortress. If the rest of the state is anything like us, it's a landslide.

If I got handed shit like that where it's clearly not showing all the candidates (what # combo each person is assigned to) and favoring one side I'd make sure to not pick anyone listed on that piece of paper out of principle. It's upsetting that they think it's okay to be so blatant about how they want people to vote and even worse is that there are people that would excuse this behavior because it's for their guy.

Is this pretty common in the states because I've never seen anything like this the times that I've voted for local/federal elections. Here, the volunteers will at most make some small talk but no one would ever go up to voters like that unless they needed assistance due to physical disability or just being old. They simply confirm who you are (by presenting your election notice received in the mail + some form of ID), wave you over to tables depending on your last name, and then after once again confirming your name to mark it off they'll hand you your paper ballot and have you fill it out behind a privacy screen. Even when you're going to pass in the ballot all the volunteer does is tear a part of the ballot off to show it's used and then hand it back so you're the one putting it into the box.
