I didn't watch 2016's election night until like right around the time it became obvious Trump was going to win, so I didn't care too much about the numbers coming in. Meanwhile I'm watching this year's numbers like a hawk right now and the wait is goddamn agonizing. I just want the results already so I can stop thinking about politics for just a little bit.
 
The thing is, while Texas did historically lean Democrat (we had a Dem governor before George W. Bush got elected in the early 90s), they weren't necessarily progressive Democrats.

Yeah a state like Texas generally elected Blue Dog Dems or DINOs depending on who you talk to, Ann Richards is one of the few Texas governors I know but that's mostly thanks to King of the Hill.
