This thread is a monster; is there any thread where we can bitch about the unbelievable polling errors we're seeing in some states? This election broke me on polling--2016 could have been an anomaly but 2020 AGAIN severely underestimating Trump support is unacceptable and it's now clear that something in the statistical methods/mathematics is failing when confronted with the current political climate. Is it Trump specific error? Is it the selection bias? Whether you love Trump, supported biden, or live in the moon with Marianne Williams, we can all agree and demand better from the polls.

Voters can register on election day at the polling place itself in many states, including wisconsin. My own polling place always has an additional table for anyone who hasn't registered and wants to, or more likely who HAS registered, but hasn't voted in the last few elections, which automatically removes your name from the rolls and requires you to reregister. Before the conspiracies about the 'registered voter count' begin, make sure you incorporate same-day registrants.
That's the fucking point.
Again, quite literally nothing has changed, and yet so many voters voted that almost everyone voted?
When statistically speaking only half the amount of people normally vote?

What changed?

Umm what numbers are you using? The total voter turnout is looking to be ~150/160 mm, which is actually roughly half of the population (obviously accounting for non-voting children). The turn out percentage is going to land in the 60-70% range, which is higher than usual, but we likely won't break the 66% or so that we did in 2008. Turnout is elevated this election. But not unbelievably so.

Seeing people talk about how they broke up with friends or family because they voted Trump, saying it's "very telling about someone who votes Trump."

These people are insane. Why break up a relationship over something so silly?
Um, sweaty, don't you know that Blonald Blumpf is a fascist dictator, and by voting for him, you're voting for Right Wing Death Squads to take to the streets, intent on rounding up and exterminating all the POCs and Homos, and also to enslave women??? smh my head, if you vote for Drumpf, you're telling your trans friends that their lives don't matter
(joke's on them, I don't even have trans friends lmao)

1. "conspiracy" is not shorthand for "conspiracy theory"
2. You want to know how I know you're a "lefty"?

inb4 "but that's old news!"
And then I repost that one video of the fat lady getting 50 grand for Biden votes, and then you complain about Veritas, so then I repost links and vids showing voter fraud right now, and then you reject all of that as hearsay even though it's video proof they used a dead man to cast a ballot, which then leads me to post more until you say I'm retarded and I call you a gay

There. I finished the cycle for you. Let's move on.

I'm glad we had that conversation in your head, so I didn't have to take part in it...

Honestly, who fucking cares that a barely literate retard has been replaced by a dude with dementia. The US is fucked either way when all you can offer up is a geriatric ego-maniac and a geriatric sex-pest, I'm here for the riots.

It says more about the people who are willing to break family ties over this nonsense than anything else.
Every day I become more an more convinced of the fact that the only real goal of modern politics is to atomise everyone to the point where a complete stranger who allegedly 'shares their opinions' is more important than their own flesh and blood, and to ensure that the only family they feel they have is the state.

It might not be by design, but it is what's happening.

That Internet clout is really important, okay?

Since we're on the topic of ripping into the drumpftards, who can't come to terms with the victory of the first female Vice President and first Catholic president since JFK, I do find it pathetic that people are getting mad at the Libertarian candidate for pulling 1% max. Fact of the matter is, even by libertarian standards they did poorly this year. Those votes weren't going to be for Trump anyway.
Wait?
Joe is catholic?

Shit, now everything makes sense.

I know I'm autistic for responding to a smuggie, but has there been an official explanation for this? The raw numbers show all votes going Biden, none for Trump or third party at that moment. Literally every single vote in a district of >100K people going one way even with 99% approval rating for Biden is insane
According to Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

"From 3:26 to 3:44 a.m. in the Associated Press election reporting stream, the vote for former Vice President Joe Biden jumped by 149,520 (9.2% of Biden's total votes) and Trump's vote jumped by 31,803 votes (2% of his total votes). Milwaukee County accounted for most but not all of that jump."
