What do you mean "went"? The peculiarity of the SJW counter-movement is that it brings together people inherently ideologically opposed to SJWs as well as liberals who believe that the SJWs shifted the Overton window so much that they were left behind. Vernaculis is most likely the latter. It doesn't mean that he even went independent. Heck, I can't even recall if the man's American.

That's the other thing-- there seems to be conflation of parties with ideological biases, i.e. Democrats are liberal and Republicans are conservative. And while that's a current trend, it can't be definitively relied on. It's why the idea that Trump will likely prevail in SCOTUS because it's mostly Republican is just wrong-- the important part isn't whether they're Republican, it's that they're conservative. And even then, his lawyers need to bring their A game to that courtroom because if they don't, him and his base will be utterly humiliated and demoralized. If they do their job, they'll deliver a verdict specifically according to the strength of the argument and evidences posed as well as the clarity of their narrative.

When it comes down to it, what he did here isn't anything different from what, say, Razorfist does. He even downplayed the legitimacy of his original prediction when he made it.

A lot of people seem pissed that the Republicans aren't more brash about getting into things but we have to remember that D.C. is literally crawling with lawyers and were talking about lawsuits worth up to billions in terms of sheer collateral impact. The number one thing to do in this case is shut the hell up and wait especially since we know for sure they fucked up.
