As I've said before - and been negrated frequently for - the ideal end to this for the Democrats is Trump publicly humiliated by arresting him for refusing to leave office. It's a very straightforward charge, and would result in a Roger Stone style arrest. They want Trump to keep claiming to be President even when he is abandoned by all of his political allies. But I think the mistake is going to be this Truth and Reconciliation bullshit. Trump WILL be abandoned by his allies if they believe that staying by his side would mean going down alongside him. But if you corner Trump's cabinet ahead of time, making it absolutely clear they'll be charged as a co-conspirator in the showtrial to come no matter what they do, then you give them very good reason to stand and fight.

I'd say if they were absolutely fucked then yes they'd distance themselves from it, but my tinfoil hat conspiracy is they'll use their power to put the blame on several poll workers and maybe minor elites so theyd serve life and the actual people behind it will get off scott free. I'd say the minor elite theyd throw to the wolves would be Biden and maybe people on his team.
