How the fuck did the Dems fuck up everything else but the presidency? They flipped zero state houses, with record breaking turn out.
Either there was massive fraud, or the 2020 Presidential Election is a hard lesson about applying branding logic too far to politics. Most successful brands aim at appealing to a passionate niche. Marketers and Business people would rather have a product that used or bought by a very passionate consumers that alienates most people, than one that just is "meh okay I guess."
Trump built a very enthusiastic base. But unlike commercial products where the worst thing that happens is people just don't buy it and shit talk it in product reviews (think Apple), in politics people can and will vote against you. Total market share is the name of the game with voting, you can't just skate on 10% market share but sell at a higher markup. Course Trump's "market share" is much higher than 10%.
Obama hit a good balance of enthusiasm and plainness, also helped by media and political machine hype. Trump proves why you shouldn't polarize like a high power magnet, even if fraud turns out to be the main reason for losing the vote count.
