I know I don't need to tell you all this, but this is one of the biggest things I patently hate about politics. Politics has pretty much become the art, not of persuasion or setting a standard to aspire to, but of flat out manipulation. These people spend too damn much time constructing narratives and excuses than actually doing anything useful, and regular folks refuse to see it.
