I am currently wondering how we have gone from ~125-129 million voters per election for the past 3 elections to what seems to be a 15+ million spike in just one election cycle, personally. Originally an 8 million increase in voters would have been seen as absurd given the past few election cycles. There has only been a 26 million increase in the US population since Obama‘s run, with no signs of any real spike on the way in any shape or form. If that was the case, both parties would have been running like mad on the local level as well, to catch that sweet new voter count. Seriously, we would have had local races being just as crazy as the Presidential one, you do NOT let a new wave of job security pass you by like that.

We have been steadily increasing our voter count on a predictable curve lately, so if things hold up for Biden, this election will destroy any chance of predicting voter counts for the next election, and the people up top better pray that there isn’t a 15-20 million drop in voters in 2024 because that will be all the proof needed of fraud as far as the general public is concerned.(along with their respective States, whose governments might not like the idea of the federal stooges throwing off their electoral processes) Good luck living through that fallout.

People on both sides are a bit perturbed by the sudden increase in turnout, but for different reasons. Right cries fraud, left cries 'you better not fucking leave'. I guarantee you there won't be nearly as much turnout next cycle. Orange Man Bad was the primary motivator for almost every new voter I met this year. Don't think I found anyone who hadn't voted before that wasn't voting blue.

I don't find it very surprising at all. Many people don't have Election Day off. Americans don't want to wait in line the same day they are working. If they can vote from the convenience of their own home with minimum effort, they'll do it. Turnout will probably diminish from 2020, true, but it will almost certainly trend continue trending upward overall if voting continues becoming less of a hassle.

I don't find it very surprising at all. Many people don't have Election Day off. Americans don't want to wait in line the same day they are working. If they can vote from the convenience of their own home with minimum effort, they'll do it. Turnout will probably diminish from 2020, true, but it will almost certainly trend continue trending upward overall if voting continues becoming less of a hassle.

Don't be surprised if under Biden/Harris election day becomes a holiday. Honestly, it should be. Hell of a lot easier to keep voting honest if as many people as possible go to the booth in person.
