General GunTuber thread

I just watched Karl's latest video, whatever you think about the subject matter there's definitely an audiece out there for it. However at points in the video the fucking wind noise is horrendous

Karl is a professional fucking YouTuber.... why doesn't he know how to set up his mic correctly or at the very least edit the noise out, Audacity is fucking free.

The actual video editing is a lot better, and it's a really good story. It's just let down by the sound.

Oh and at the end he starts whinging that nobody will sponser him.!!! Fucking World of Tanks tried to sponser him!.

Karl has, on multiple occasions, directly made fun of people who accept sponsorships on YouTube.

You don’t get to claim to be a free speech warrior willing to say whatever needs to be said then complain when no one wants to associate their brands with yours.

You have scoffed at others for selling out while making your own brand unbelievably toxic in just a matter of months. Hope it was worth it.

It's not even about being a free speech warrior, it's about being openly hostile towards advertisers because "reee big business".

I would kill to see his patreon statistics though, cause I wonder just how bad they have to be for him to start changing his mind about advertisers.

Just think about it. Can you think of a single person you know, in real life or online, who would pay for gun youtube content? Let alone from Karl, but just paying at all. He's trying to get into a niche of a niche, and all the people willing to put some money into stuff like this are people he despises.

I support C&Rsenal but that's as much a history channel as it is a firearms one. Also that channel like the Chieftain's does original research, it's not just regurgitating existing information.

I don't do any blackpowder, but those cartridge wrapper stamps and paper cartridge forming tools he sells look pretty neat.
I'm considering it because of how fun the prep looks. Aside from being attractive to historical gun nerds, black powder shit is involved, skillful work to learn and also pretty much unregulatable so the feddies won't shoot your dog for having too much fun. It seems like a decent investment if you don't mind the smoke. See: The Idahoan making wacky BP rifles in his garage legally.

I might pay for gun youtube content, not from karl but if I had more disposable income there are a few content creators I would like to support.

Karl doesn't give a single fuck about the audio. It's always been shit and he knows it's always been shit, he just doesn't fucking care. He's acknowledged it several times here and there and his attitude has essentially been "Yeah I ain't gonna do shit about it so fuck off losers. And how dare you complain!”.

Ian's audio has been rocky at times, especially before he really started to take off, but he's at least made efforts to try to fix it. Meanwhile Karl makes videos where he seemingly moves 10 feet away from the firing range and tries to have a conversation while caseloads of ammo are being fired off. Great job Karl!

I fucking love how shitty their SHOT Show interviews are, holding up a lapel mic to people with gunshots five feet away and thinking "Yeah, this is fine" when people much more prepared have cameramen and legitimate microphones.

They suffer from the same problem as a lot of youtube channels, which is starting small and getting popular but not wanting or knowing how to do better.

Karl's new orbiter Ollam, has done videos on video production, which actually aren't that bad. He shoots everything on a GoPro, doing the audio with a rode microphone system. It's the perfect 80/20 setup. The videos aren't going to look and sound stunning, but they're also going to be way ahead of the shit quality Karl is uploading.

Congrats to Cap and Ball for getting his book on "Early Military Rifles" published via Osprey. The Osprey "Weapons" series is already pretty good stuff, and him being such a meticulous scholar, it's probably well above and beyond the general grade of Osprey
