Also, that TikTok video is fake because videos can be edited. No reason to believe it's edited; just that it is because the guy came out two hours later and said so. But I'm the asshole for being skeptical.

The one nice things about arguing with my TDS friends is that I'm finally starting to understand how their brains work.

So they do believe CNN and no "raw data/videos" will convince them because CNN is established with decades building its reputation.

Ok, at least I have the WHY now when I post data and they start sperging out about how it "was debunked already." Because the debunkers have the established reputation and I don't.

It's much easier now to realize that their entire argument boils down to "they're journalists and you're not; therefore you're wrong."

In order to even be skeptical I need a smoking gun and 5 eye witnesses. Any video evidence can be brushed off as "videos can be edited lol".

That was something I realized recently: some decide based on status or authority. So in lots of cases that is unless you are high status or someone they see as an authority, your arguments will be discarded. "News said so. Doctor said so. Actor who I've known on tv all my life said so. Who are you? Nobody, that's who."

They use social reasoning instead of rational thought. They do not believe what they reasonably think to be true. They do not bother to reasonably think. Instead they believe what it is most socially advantageous to believe, or least socially disadvantageous to believe. They take the path of least resistance in terms of social consequences. Trusting in authority aligns them with authority, which is socially prudent. They don't hate Trump because they actually hate Trump. They performatively hate Trump because it nets them social capital.

How many times have you heard a TDS retard say something like, "The world is laughing at us?" Why do you think this is their #1 concern?

There's a saying: "No man can be reasoned out of a belief that he didn't reason himself into." You could write a dissertation supporting your argument, using 10 Nobel Prize winners as sources, and a TDS person would still dismiss it. Particularly annoying ones will accept it grudgingly, then completely forget about their accepting it the next time you talk to them. They don't argue to get to the truth of a matter - they argue to demonstrate their virtue to onlookers. Your purpose in arguing shouldn't be to convince them, but to convince onlookers that they're full of shit. Don't waste dialectic speech (facts and figures) on a TDSer. Try rhetoric (emotional appeals asking why they support evil things.) For instance, "Why are you so quick to believe corporate news? They're just mouthpieces for rich corporations that don't care about the poor. Why do you like rich corporations that screw over the poor so much?" Hit them where it hurts - their belief in their own moral superiority.

Or better yet, call them a faggot and call it a day.
