This will become a standard left wing talking point because it's impossible to amend the constitution to abolish the EC because the states wouldn't vote to remove their own power and 3/4 are needed for ratification.
Exactly.

This is kind of a pet peeve of mine because I actually sat down and read the constitution and this entire plan is bullshit.

For every 30,000 people in the nations population, the House of representatives is supposed to get a new member as well as a district. So right now the house is supposed to have 11,000 members in it.

This number is artificially capped at 438 by a law written in 1918.

Rather than repeal that law (and solve quite a few other problems at the same time) they would much rather use far more resources and time to change the system for shittier results.

I can't imagine how ignorant you have to be to think this.
Margaret Thatcher said:
They are casting their problems at society. And, you know, there's no such thing as society. There are individual men and women and there are families. And no government can do anything except through people, and people must look after themselves first. It is our duty to look after ourselves and then, also, to look after our neighbours.
The mother of neoliberalism is one of the figures that got the ball rolling on the gay shit we're witnessing today. She was an absolute cunt.

If Biden wins, it's over for Republicans, no question. If Trump wins, it depends on how the left reacts. There's obviously going to be denial of Trumps win, and rioting and flat out terrorism has a good chance of happening. If that happens, there's a good chance it could screw them over.
At this point, even if Biden won, there was enough monkey business exposed that it'd likely keep a flame alive in the GOP in time for the the 2022 midterms. The GOP would have been finished if they left Trump to duke it out by himself, or if Trump didn't protest the results in the first place.

I don't 100% buy the claim that turnout in swing state urban areas is unique. Looking at some urban counties other than Philadelphia, Atlanta, Milwaukee, and Detroit show similar increases in turnout in favor of Biden.

For example, Biden gets a 9% increase in votes in Milwaukee county, WI up to 26% in Chester County, PA. But in other areas, I can find Biden turnout increases on the low end as well.

Marion County, IN (Indianapolis)
Clinton 212,899 (Trump 130,360)
Biden 247,265 (Trump 133,968]
Biden % 16.14% (Trump % 2.76%) (5.47% Total Increase)

St. Louis County, MO
Clinton 286,704 (Trump 202,434)
Biden 322,802 (Trump 196,808]
Biden % 12.69% (Trump % -2.78%) (2.72% Total Increase)

Providence County, RI
Clinton 142,899 (Trump 90,882)
Biden 164,886 (Trump 102,503)
Biden % 15.39% (Trump 12.79%) (11.18% Total Increase)

Try it yourself for other areas. I think in some rural areas you will find big turnout increases in favor of Trump.

Thats would be very expensive and there would get even less done...

I was saying she wasn't communist, and saying there is no such thing as society and the government shouldn't do much doesn't sound very communist to me.

Democrats turning communist only started with AOC and her miserable shower.
No offense but you know nothing about world history. The origins of what we consider socialist and communist ideas began to take root in the early 19th century. By the time Turgenev and Dostoevsky were writing novels in the mid 19th century, the socialist youth who go off to college and then comes home to spout ideas identical to things you hear AOC and Bernie saying without shame in our time was already an archetype - think about what that must mean for how widespread the ideas were in the institutions, and that was almost 200 years ago.

Rohan almost got annihilated by hateful primitives, so fitting, but discouraging.

We need the dead army.
It's been well established that the dead vote Democrat.

I mean Democrats, the US political party. Marx and Engels were writing in Britain in the 19th century but if you think people like Grover Cleveland were communists I don't know what to tell you.

RE: Thatcher
How about "By the standards set by other female heads of state, Thatcher wasn't half bad"
Iron Lady performed the greatest service to her nation that a leader can, she got the UK out of its 1970s fugue state. Britain was tired and hollowed out politically and economically when she took over. She wasn't able to make it last past her tenure but still she gave the UK a decade of not being hapless

It would make it utterly impractical for them to all be present year-round. I would consider that to be a good thing, since the Constitution only demands that the Congress assemble once a year, in the middle of January. Going back to my rant about the citizen-representative, my read is that the plan was for everyone to show up, vote on the bills they'd put together in their spare time, then fuck off back to the farm/plantation/cabin-in-the-woods for the rest of the year, where they'd do their day job and talk with their constituents about what other legislation they should push. Anything that moves us closer to that state of affairs is an absolute win in my book.

Salary wise? Yes, I suppose.

Otherwise they can telecommute. Watch C-SPAN and vote using a secure method in their home office or whatever.

"Nothing would get done." Yeah. Welcome to Democracy. These people cry for "MOAR DEMOCRACY" and then their heads explode when the actual rules are fucking explained.

By this point anyone trying to get rid of the Senate or the Electoral College just supports Oligarchy because the peasants can't be trusted.

Guess the useful idiots on the ground figured out calling for Republican heads was a bad idea and are claiming they just love us and want us to be happy. Too late!

Yes, and what party do you think is the repository for the ancient socialist ideas?
