Exactly.This will become a standard left wing talking point because it's impossible to amend the constitution to abolish the EC because the states wouldn't vote to remove their own power and 3/4 are needed for ratification.
This is kind of a pet peeve of mine because I actually sat down and read the constitution and this entire plan is bullshit.
For every 30,000 people in the nations population, the House of representatives is supposed to get a new member as well as a district. So right now the house is supposed to have 11,000 members in it.
This number is artificially capped at 438 by a law written in 1918.
Rather than repeal that law (and solve quite a few other problems at the same time) they would much rather use far more resources and time to change the system for shittier results.
