For someone who considers themselves a PC gamer, Jeremy really was committed to making an unboxing video because he just bought a
third one from the store:
Love how less than a minute in, he says he "couldn't afford" to own both this and a PS5 but had purchased three Xbox Series Xs. Granted, he could have cancelled one from Amazon since his Tweet, but so far he hasn't said as much.[/MEDIA]
EDIT 1: Three minutes in and it's pretty clear Jeremy is reading off something. There's zero cringe humor in his words, and his eyes keep looking towards his monitor. I almost want to believe he's reading off a article as he's discussing it because it seems very out-of-character for him to speak this way.
EDIT 2: Jeremy did mention that he would be releasing a video later today about the Amazon mishap, but did not say if he cancelled his order with them or not. He also mentions how his existing subscribers might remember when he used to do unboxing videos way back when, because that's totally why they subscribe to him. Like I'm sorry Jeremy, but no one is interested in your unboxing videos when there's other YouTubers who do it sooner and much more professionally. It's the same thing with the MtG content and video game streaming, his subscribers just don't tune in to watch no matter how hard he tries. Right now, the video stands at 8.1k views after 34 minutes.
EDIT 3: And immediately Jeremy outs himself for not knowing anything about this console because he almost believed it didn't come with a controller. So far, this is the most boring unboxing video I've ever seen. It doesn't help that his camera set-up isn't designed for unboxings meaning Jeremy is always completely in frame. Even at 1080p, it's extremely hard to make out the details on the console because Jeremy holds it so far away.
EDIT 4: ROFL, Jeremy actually seems annoyed that only one controller is offered in this release instead of two. Oh, and that you only get standard AA batteries for it and not the rechargeable king. Sure, I guess these are "understandable" complaints, but most gamers know this is the standard across all consoles nowadays. It's almost like Jeremy isn't actually a hardcore gamer so he needs to find the most basic of "issues" so he can have any sort of criticism.
EDIT 5: So after spending just a few minutes actually unboxing, it's revealed that this video actually won't show the console in action but instead will be showcased on his Twitch channel later today. This had to be one of the most piss-poor unboxing I've ever seen, with most of the video spent on Jeremy very clearly reading off his monitor, and inadequate framing to see the actual console. Oh yeah, and at the end, Jeremy reiterates his opinion that people don't need to buy consoles at launch... despite the fact that any new viewers are watching this video because they likely want to own it on launch. I'll be very interested to see how this video performs, because I almost believe Jeremy only bought this for the unboxing bait.
EDIT 6: Finally, it is revealed that video editor Sean did, indeed, want a Xbox Series X as he too was out to buy one locally. Pretty funny then how Jeremy made a big deal of trying (and failing) to get the poor guy a PS5 back when the artist gave Jeremy a strike, but didn't feel as giving when it came to his extra Xbox Series X. Sure, it likely wouldn't have mattered because of the delay, but Jeremy only found out about that last night and spent the last few weeks to shill.
