Namely, that men and women are so different as to be at odds with each other and that relationships should be pursued at all cost lest one be branded a failure.

Nobody in the 90s ended up on a social media blacklist mainly because there were no social media. Instead, a person would be known as the neighbourhood creep. People gossiped all the same and these kinds of difficulties with understanding what others expect were always present.

On top of that, I find those ‘I got branded as a rapist for absolutely nothing!’ incidents absurdly overblown; it may happen once and then the whole world is aware thanks to the internet. They are a bit like terroristic acts in that way: vanishingly rare, yet instilling fear in the populace nonetheless.

I definitely agree with you here. The destruction of proper outlets for male-female socialization has been happening since at least the "Summer of Love" if not earlier. The culture of courtship in the postmodern world is completely broken and hurts the majority of men and women in the long term, not just in the West but everywhere that society has become post-industrial (e.g. Japan).

Now society tells kids that irresponsible sex makes you a chad, or that it's "empowering," without preparing people for the emotional damage it causes.

What started out as "sexual liberation" actually ended up breaking down the ability of modern adults to form long-lasting relationships, as studies have shown that an increase in the number of sexual partners reduces a person's ability to pair-bond. In effect, the collapse of the dating marketplace caused by society ridding itself of traditional sexual mores and social organizations (and the decline in social trust and communities generally, which is a different problem altogether; see: Robert Putnam, E Pluribus Unum: Diversity and Community in the Twenty‐first Century) broke down the ability for people to find matches outside the remodeled dating scene. So the change in venue reinforced the change in approach, with venues becoming more sexually charged and approaches becoming more sexually charged. What a lot of the women complain about on FDS is that they have unwanted sexual approaches, or that men sexually abused them. Who had his life virtually destroyed. Or any number of lesser lights, like at least half the people on the so-called "broken staircase" list, where actual rape accusations are mixed in with more of the "awkward flirting" shit as if they're the same thing.

What you are saying here is what I consider an example of absurd overblowing. Nobody accused these people of rape.

Spoiler: Recalling what I know.

Unless I have missed some major news, nothing much happened to Bob Chipman. He had been publicly insinuating Lindsay Ellis was his friend and got publicly told to stop. This behaviour was indeed creepy; that third-party drama-mongers on Twitter blew it out of proportion is not good but a whole another issue. Nobody is going to fire him because he is already unemployed.

Alec Holowka was mentally ill, which likely had influenced him to treat acquaintances terribly. The team he worked with received multiple accusations of poor treatment by Alec and fired him. He then suicided, leaving best wishes.

Vic Mignogna has been fighting his accusations in court, and so far it has ruled not in his favour, with cases being dismissed. It remains to see how the appeals go.

As far as I see — except for Bob Chipman, who is in a different situation to the other two — after they got accused by multiple people of abuse or harassment, the employer opened an investigation, ostensibly, came to the conclusion that the allegations were credible, and then let go the accused.

What I am to make of this? It seems entirely in order to me. My view remains unchanged.
