Randy claiming that Battleborn successfully spearheaded the hero-shooter genre is a bit like if Sega was to say "we successfully spearheaded the launch of CD-based gaming systems with the Saturn." They weren't even the first ones to do it, nobody cared all that much, and they went on to be crushed by a much better competitor.

Whatever keeps him from blowing his brains out. BL3 might be dead as far as I can tell, I haven't seen anyone talk about that series in what feels like a year.

BL3 is pretty dead and wasn't super well received but they got a huge pile of cash from Epic Games for it and a lot of people picked it up on release, although I don't think any of the DLC is doing well and it's not going to be a "classic" like Borderlands 2 is.

The real casualty is Borderlands 4, which people will have a lot less goodwill for.

They're making a fourth one?
Fuck me, the well's already dry- at this point they're sending men down with towels to wick the last bits of moisture from the aquifer's walls.

I mean, not officially - they're still in with Borderlands 3 currently.

But there isn't a way they aren't going to in the future - because it's the only worthwhile IP they have to try and milk. And when they do, people won't have the fond BL2 memories to carry sales, just the stale BL3 ones.

When I heard Dog(shit)fall was going to be $70 dollars for the same washed up mechanics of any current generation game. I knew that it wasn't going to be good. There are literal F2P games that do it significantly better: Vindictus, Warframe, Destiny 2, Dragon's Nest to name a few. He's trying to make up a genre of games that already exists, and if it succeeds he'll do the usual, "Yes, I did this! Me! Randy! Love me!" Even though, he's shit on everyone on his way, "to the top". At this point, "the top" is just a pile of dog shit games that he's pumped out from hardworking shmucks who want to work in that field and can't get a job anywhere else. The last part is just speculation, obviously. But who knows? I certainly don't.

If BL3 is doing bad, why did Gearbox announce a SECOND season pass for it?

If BL3 is doing bad, why did Gearbox announce a SECOND season pass for it?

Because it's going to cost them virtually nothing to do.

Season Pass 2 will include two new DLC packs called Designer's Cut and Director's Cut, plus new Vault Hunter skins that will be revealed later in October. The Designer's Cut add-on, which launches November 10, will include an additional skill tree for each Vault Hunter and a brand-new standalone mode called Arms Race. We've already gotten a look at FL4K's new skill tree branch, which includes a new Hyperion Loaderbot as a pet!

Literally a single player game mode, some skins, and another skill tree - really all things that should be an "update" and not "more DLC" but what do I know? It sure all sounds like stuff that was probably supposed to be in at launch but didn't finish in time that the skeleton crew is trying to shit out for $$$.

It isn't even interesting like SP1 (which had new areas/quests/items/etc).
