My guess is they tried to learn their lesson with 2016, and pushed hard for a Blue Wave along with some rigging. But it still wasn't enough, so they sperged out and just shot votes everywhere.

There was also some organized fuckery. There's that audio recording that the MI SoS is trying to use legal threats to remove from the internet of Poll Workers being trained in Detroit to use Covid to fuck with poll watchers. This was duplicated in Georgia and PA, IIRC, which means it was either something these idiots came up with themselves independently, or there was an organized effort to damage election security in this way.
